AU FEU D'AMBOISE

Unfortunately, we were only in Amboise two nights and the first night we were out of town on the balloon ride, so this was our only opportunity for a normal dinner. We certainly weren't disappointed by this restaurant. Our hotel recommended it and made reservations for us - reservations highly recommended, though I think that goes without saying for all good restaurants in France. Service was good - we had a young man who spoke good English and seemed happy to translate the menu for us. All of the meals were excellent and a reasonable value. I believe that all of the seating is outside, so this isn't a place you'll want to visit if it's raining unless they have a way to cover the terrace. Nous avons dîné avec un couple d'amis, et 2 enfants bien vivants. Ils nous ont placés autour d'une table ronde, nos enfants ont été servis rapidement.Le menu à 25€ est très correct, les grillades étaient bonnes apparemment.Les vins sont abordables.Une adresse recommandable, bonne alternative à l'Epicerie (par ailleurs très bien) avec des enfants.La serveuse était efficace et souriante.

Déjeuner en terrasse ombragée un jour de forte chaleur quel régal. Notre petit groupe de cyclo a apprécié le calme et la cuisine de ce restaurant, lors de notre passage sur la Loire à vélo

This little restaurant is down a little laneway near the chateau. My husband is a big carnivore so he was quite looking forward to a good steak but was a bit disappointed. The quality of the meat wasn't great, just passable. I had fish and given that it is very much a 'steak' restaurant I wasn't expecting much which was fortunate because it wasn't very good. Even though the restaurant wasn't busy, we felt pushed to eat and move on. The younger of the two men who run place tried to take my starter away before it was finished and, for the remainder of the time, they stood in the corner by the little bar/desk just staring at everyone which made me a bit uncomfortable. Bit scruffy inside with cutlery, serviettes and stuff piled in full view of patrons. Guess they do OK with the large amount of tourist trade in the town but this isn't somewhere we would recommend.

We went as a family of six and sat in a cozy terrace away from the crowds. We all ordered from their menu of the day. The food was quick and absolutely delicious. I loved the salmon dish and the tarte citron! I recommend this place and would come back again!
