The restaurant offers a delightful menu with an ideal ambiance for lunch. We enjoyed a two-course meal that was simply delicious. The mushroom and truffle soup was exquisite, and the roasted half chicken was absolutely scrumptious! I highly recommend it. Service: 5, Location: 5. View all feedback.
What can I say.... five stars just isn't enough... 10, 15, 20 stars... The food wonderful... just wonderful.... the accommodation SO comfortable. The breakfast.... superb. The staff.... I cannot praise them highly enough. Friendly, helpful, chatty. We had the pleasure on our first night of spending some time with the chef after service. His passion for his food was a joy to behold. His affection for his colleagues was wonderful, as was theirs for him. The staff get on, it felt like a family... so... some taking the mickey, but ultimately they all pull together as a team to make The Black Horse a fantastic venue. Go. Eat, drink, stay. You will love whichever you do!
What a hidden gem this place is. My partner and I had a fabulous meal here on Saturday evening. The pub was busy, the restaurant was very busy, it had a lovely welcoming atmosphere, warm and cosy in the bar area. Staff were brilliant, food beautiful. Loved the open kitchen, was great to watch the kitchen staff, working like a well oiled machine. Every single dish that came out was beautifully presented and looked amazing. My partner ordered Scallops to start, which were delicious, served with black pudding, largest scallops ever and all cooked to perfection. I didn’t have starter as wanted to save room for pudding). I had cod loin served with prawn croquettes on a bed of kale, which was so good. My partner had Steak and ale pie,, served with thick cut chips, only order if hungry this was a huge portion of deliciousness, proper hand made pie full of flavour and meat. We did manage to squeeze in pudding too, and shared rice pudding, which was very good, but we also shared a panecotta which absolutely divine. Overall a wonderful evening . This is not ordinary pub food! We can’t wait to go back again.
A wonderful place to visit. the staff was very friendly, attentive and knew the menu and could explain, advise and describe. on the way to our garden table we were immediately offered water (a warm day) and a bowl of water for our little dog. nothing was too much annoyed. eating was delicious and well prepared and far over a 'normal' pub standard. highly recommended.
Very beautiful in the landscape. warm, inviting place medium price range, but worth every penny. I and my friend both ordered the fish and the chips. succulent fish and chunky chips, but they were delicious non-dry chips. recommended full.
Excellent Sunday roast. Great service. Extremely highly recommended. Service: 5
