What User doesn't like about The Dog:
Called for a bite to eat. Nice looking pub but very cold where we sat. Food wasn’t great, the ribeye steak was barely 5mm thick and couldn’t have weighed 6oz which made it expensive at £24.95. Mussels were not good, the broth they were cooked...in was dreadfully salty, the artisan bread was very stale. Wouldn’t recommend it. View all feedback.
Had lunch with the sat on the dog this afternoon. 2 cursor meal for £23. the bark meat was cooked nicely and much sweet, fry and a huge delicious yorkshire pudding. absolutely sensational. the lamb was also excellent. dessert choice was also good and. parts by trifle and eton mess sundae were wonderful. helpful staff, lots of space at the table and good value for money. will definitely recommend and will go again. Thank you.
Great service, surroundings, atmosphere, menu and food. You need to book to avoid disappointment and make sure you come hungry! Portions sizes are very generous! We all had Sunday lunch, 2 courses and thoroughly enjoyed it. A good meat selection, beautify cooked and choice of...vegetables. The mushroom gravy was just beautiful! Mwah Will definitely be going back for more and thoroughly recommend. Thank you!
We visited here finally after failing a couple of times (our fault). We arrived a little early and had a couple of drinks at the bar. Lovely welcome and great village feel. Got chatting to what I presume was the landlady and she was so...welcoming and chatted about the area and the history around it. Food wise, wow! We enjoy food and restaurants and was very very impressed. The small plates are excellent, especially the Szechuan Cauliflower. For mains we had the Veggie Bao and then Hanger Steak. I dont order steak very much as im usually disappointed but was intrigued by the Hanger as its not a cut you see often but it was incredible. Cooked as i wanted, the bone marrow addition was excellent and the sauce was divine. Service was top notch and they reserved us a table back in the bar where we enjoyed cocktails. Can not recommend it enough..its a must on your bucket list
The number of pubs and restaurants that say they are accessible for wheelchair users and prove not to be. It's very frustrating. However I am pleased to report that the Dog Inn is very much accessible. From the logical placement of disabled parking bays to...wide opening doors and ramps to wide corridors and enough space in the restaurant to accommodate a wheelchair. All on one level.Other restaurant owners take note. After all it should be access for all, right? I am also pleased to report the food was quite simply stunning. We both had Sunday roasts, lamb and pork respectively . Vegetables are served separately in hot small pans on a wooden base. Carrot and Swede mash, wonderful home baked roasties, and delightful honey roast parsnips and broccoli stems. All fresh and perfectly cooked. Very good size portions of meat with lovely buttery mash and delightful gravy. The Yorkshire puddings were crisp and flavoursome. Why do restaurants keep serving Yorkshire puddings with all meals? ONLY BEEF!! Desserts were the indulgent chocolate brownie and the trifle equally indulgent followed by a good mug of lovely americano coffee. The number of times I ask for it to be served after dessert but it isn't. At The Dog it was served precisely after I'd finished. Service was polite, friendly and efficient while being relaxed. Best Sunday Lunch we've had for a very very long time.
