De Caldelas Churrasqueira - Amares

We wandered in on a wet rainy lunchtime to a bright open ambience. Few people there and unfortunately there were two televisions in different parts of the restaurant. It was clear we were going to have difficulty negotiating the menu, but luckily the son came to our assistance and guided the choice of fish(Garoupa) and steak accompanied by a beautiful red wine. Bread, cheese, cold meat and some sort of grilled meat arrived- which was probably more than we wanted. The recommended dessert was a fried,sugary egg custard- a speciality which sank the ship. But it was a long leisurely lunch on a miserable day so it met a need.

Visited two other basic places to eat in Caldelas and found service and food tho simpler of better quality. Service in both was better friendlier and more atmospheric. Would not return.

El mejor restaurante de la ciudad, comida de muy buena calidad a un precio increíble. Todo muy cuidadoso, desde el servicio a la comida. Y las raciones son muy generosas. ¡Para volver!

I was eight weeks for a job in Caldelas and came every Saturday for dinner. I have enjoyed each time. Good food, good wine, friendly service.
