A fantastic lunch with beautifully cooked fresh fish, we had a great time and will return! While slightly more expensive than our usual portuguese restaurants, our lunch was worth every euro. View all feedback.
What Rory O doesn't like about Ababuja:
The main reason we chose this restaurant was because of the lovely view. The food served at this restaurant though is average at best, very bland and tasteless, but the staff are something else, very rude and ignorant. We complained to the owner about my daughters food turning up 10 minutes after ours , then a further 10 minutes after for the rest of her meal, which by then had gone cold . This place needs to be avoided at all costs we ordered our meals 4 of us 3 of which arrived with no accompaning sauces and extras we had ordered after asking over and over again they arrived when we had finished the measl ,the fourth meal arrived when we were half way through our meal it was cold again with no extras that we ordered we complained to the manager who was only interested in defending the restaurant and how busy the kitchen was he was a very obnoxious man who never used the word sorry and insisted we paid the bill in full,I always like to think I give balanced reviews but this is probably the worse experience in any restaurant I've ever had so please people keep out of this establishment
Where do I start? After travelling a lot to Portugal for work I have eaten in some truly amazing restaurants but let me tell you Ababuja has to be the best most authentic restaurant I have eaten in, the fish is so fresh they can tell you which boat caught it and what time it came in. If you come to Alvor you must try this place but I would book as it’s bombed out every day
We visited this restaurant on the first day of the reopening. looks like they had a new refit, as the interieur looks very different from previous photos and was beautiful. the service was great and there were many menu options. the food was really delicious. all staff (and owners) were very friendly and helpful, so we felt bad to face a problem at the end of the meal. the bill came and we were really shocked at the price of the fish. we had ordered psychic and was told that it was for two people, which was not a problem. the menu said “market price per kg”, and we did not ask for any approximate cost and the waitress did not say. so €59 was charged for 0.9 kg fish, was surprising, especially as we only paid €18pp for a very similar meal on the previous day. the amount of fish was about enough for a regular appetit for both of us. the restaurant owner said it was because the fish was fresh and we would have paid less for frozen fish?! but honestly, it tasted exactly the same and was just as good, and was also in a reputable fish restaurant. so they give this restaurant a walk, they will not be disappointed by the meal, but get a head on the prices if they do not want to be caught out (pardon the pun
Localizado na ria de Alvor com uma vista fantástica. A comida é muito bem preparada e os funcionários são simpáticos e intensos.

We complained to the owner about my daughters food turning up 10 minutes after ours , then a further 10 minutes after for the rest of her meal, which by then had gone cold . The owners response was somewhat surprising, the most arrogant rude person I have ever had to deal with. I certainly would not recommend this restaurant based on poor service and average, overpriced food.
