We visited this bar a few times during our stay in Alvor. We had jugs of sangria which were to die for at €7.50!! The cheapest but also one of the best. This is a bar locals use and is on one of the main streets where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Wine is only €1.50! They also sell food but we didn’t try any as we were only after a drink. Doesn’t look much as you pass by but is well worth a visit. View all feedback.
What Matilde Vicente doesn't like about 38 and a Half:
We chose this cafe because it advertised savoury crepes. We sat down and ordered beers, then looked at the menu and ordered a crepe only to be told they were not available .....strange for a cafe that 'cooks from scratch '. Since we now had beers we were committed to stay so my wife ordered cheese , only to be told that it was off......mmmmm a pattern was developing . Since my wife just wanted a light snack she order... We stopped into this cafe/snack bar because it looked so cute. Brightly colored tables set outside on the street. We went inside to order and the gal who worked there just wasn’t nice at all. She came out with and attitude with our beers and said what do you want. I figured a quick toastie and then go someplace else but when it came it was just plain wonder bread type stuff with one piece of ham and pressed in the machine. I asked for mustard and again the server seemed grumpy. She forgot it and I couldn’t get her attention. So I finally walked in again and she ignored me and walked past me twice and even gave me a dirty look. I must look like someone she doesn’t like or she just hates her job or having a really bad day. I walked out side and sat in front of my cold sandwich and I asked again for mustard. She did say sorry I forgot. I get it, it happens but man she is grumpy.
I had my best steak here and the range of starters was fabulous. The service was very good and the overall meal was excellent.
Lovely little cafe with friendly atmosphere. Food excellent and good value would definitely recommend.Although small it had a good choice on the menu to suit all tastes.
Had lovely meal, chicken /steak and 2 jugs of sangria along with a coffee and came to approx 36 euros great service, clean toilets and bit of local banter give it a try and check it out for yourself we will definitely be back
Quite traditional restaurant, don’t expect Michelin service but for a good meal and wine that won’t break the bank this is the place for you. 2 x hake fillets with fries and salad, 2 white wines 2 red wines and water €22!! Amazing.
