AMAZING INCREDIBLE DELICIOUS FRESH MADE TO ORDER HOT food with excellent service. Prices are reasonable and can I tell you the food is delicious?! The owner is literally third generation. Passed from his grandfather to his mother and then to him. It used to be...only a bakery and then the current owner went to culinary school and he and his best friend from kindergarten now run the kitchen the bistro). Already starte... View all feedback.
What Jermey Fadel doesn't like about Rays 3rd Generation Bistro Bakery:
Positives: Great food. Negatives: Hello Ray’s, CoVid is spread by airosols. Waitress wearing a face shield but no mask, really?. Although we had a reservation, tables were left uncleared in the ‘dining area’ and we were seated close to the cash for the bakery. Seemed...unsafe since no one was checking for CoVid vaccination proof. Guitarist was a nice touch but no protection around him and no masking. I understand tha... View all feedback.
This is the third and last time I will dine this tiny establishment – most unfortunate as the food is excellent. Our dining experience was ruined due to the incredibly cramped quarters, the loud music and the hectic atmosphere. The “kitchy” 4’ tall blackboard menus, leaning against each table, only added to the overcrowded ambience. The talented musician providing “back ground” music required customers to converse in elevated tones. Requests to turn the music down fell on deaf ears. On two separate occasions the friendly Staff apologized for the slow service. However, the icing on the cake occurred when our waitress informed us that the next guests, to be seated at our table, had arrived for their reservation. Please know that we did not linger over our dinner, rather, the service was slow and we were not yet in receipt of our bill before being asked to leave. If ever this establishment offers a more tranquil and comfortable customer atmosphere I would only then consider returning. Perhaps offering take-out should be a consideration.
From the outside, it looks just like a kind of bistro bakery. Inside, it looks like any other restaurant. But the menu is outstanding and the food is awesome. Very good choice of local beers. We took the beef short ribs as well as the grilled kangaroo and were both overwhelmingly satisfied: tasty and cooked to perfection. We also took the sticky toffee pudding (very good) and peach crumble (just slightly too sweet). The price may seem high, but it is definitely worth it.
Our group of 6 family members including cousins, sisters and our aunt chose Ray's for a lunch. We had visited before and liked their extensive lunch menu. The food was delicious- salads, yummy sandwiches on bakery bread and homemade pies and desserts. Always a busy spot but on this particular day a large group (26) dominated the space, making it rather noisy to talk and visit.
My husband and I went here on our way home from work. I had the scallop and shrimp with coconutt sauce, absolutely amazing. My husband had the blackened salmon, which was also great. We love the fresh vegetables with the dinners. Had a very friendly waitress and loved watching Kat (?) working in the kitchen. Definitely recommend this place, but you should make a reservation.
After a lovely stay at the MIllcroft Inn, we stopped at Ray's for lunch as reccommended by another guest of the Inn. WOW, so glad we took that advice, lunch was fantastic! This is a must try if ever in this area. You Gotta Eat Here!
