Just off the square in the old town we were gre... read more We are seasoned visitors to Altea but unfortunately had never happened upon this superb tapas restaurant before. Just off the square in the old town we were greeted with such enthusiasm by the wonderful chap outside and that was followed by every single person working here. They were hugely accommodating in our choice of table, the food was superb, the view is gorgeous from the roof terrace, with so many places to choose from these guys really deserve to do well.

Ea... read more I absolutely adore Mar Co. I have been here a few times and loved it. The Tasting Menu was fantastic. The food is beautifully plated with incredible flavors. Each dish kept getting better and better. It has a great location right off of the main plaza in the Old Town. This hidden gem has a wonderful, quaint and precious terrace with views of the sea and Altea. Ana, the owner and chef, is wonderful and so friendly, as well as all the waiters and waitresses. They also make a great mojito!

The restaurant is situated 15 metres from the church plaza in Altea and we sat outside with a fantastic view over the sea.

The steps are numerous an... read more We found this place because the restaurant we were going to was closed. They have wonderful seating on their terrace on the 3rd floor. The steps are numerous and slightly steep, but you can also sit inside and not climb as many stairs. The views are beautiful. We had the menu del dia (Salad and Salmon) and it was delicous. My mom who is a vegetarian had a salad and it was really good! Great place and friendly service.

Just off the church square on Calle San Jose it can be hard to spot at first because it is a small and intimate place. The main eating area is up a couple of flights of stairs on a terrazzo with a magnificent view of Altea's harbour and the hills beyond. The food here is absolutely wonderful. We always ordered the menu del dia which came with a starter, a main course, and dessert and coffee. Every day the menu had some change to it so you were never bored coming back to eat here again and again...which we did several times. Every dish was delicious: perfectly proportioned, lovely flavours. The staff are friendly and gracious. The owner is the chef. I highly encourage you to try this place out as you'll love the experience.
