I have been here several times, we always go here for lunch whenever we are in Alta- which is at least 3-5 times a year. I love sushi, and this is the ONLY reason we keep coming back here. As far as I know, this is the only sushi place in Alta. The service here is absolutely awful. We always have to wait a really long time to get seated, to get service in regards to order drinks, and also we always have to wait a really long time to be able to pay. The staff doesn’t pay any attention at all to customers needs, and they are often rude. The last time we were there, we sat at a booth and it was not even cleaned properly, bit we sat down anyway. We started eating, and waited for someone to come and take our drink order. No one came. There was a pitcher of lukewarm water at our table, and we would really have wanted new, cold water. When a waitress finally came to our table and asked if everything was ok, i said «No, could we please get some new and cold water?». And she very rudely responded that she did not have the time to get us some new water because there was so many people in the restaurant. Thats the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. She didn’t even ask if we wanted anything else to drink. The sushi is expensive, and they don’t have many different types to choose from, but the ones i choose are always good.
Clean eatery with friendly wait staff. It is inside the shopping mall. They serve a large variety with all kinds of toppings – even mango and strawberry. The toppings are a little too large and need to be cut for manageable eating. Similarly the maki rolls are rather large. The quality of the food is excellent. Maybe it would be more enjoyable if the servings were smaller and easier to enjoy.
Not sure if this is the only sushi place in Alta, but if there are others, I'd think about going to those. First things first. Nice location inside the shopping mall, seems cleand and the waiter was nice and friendly. Sushi Point Alta, also suffer from the same sushi disease spreading in Norway. Where all resturants try and beat each other by having the weirdest toppings and combos. I've eaten sushi all over the world, including Japan, and Norway is by far the weirdest when it comes to this. The same here in Alta, where you have strawberry, mango and all kinds of toppings, making the pieces enormous. I included some pictures here. This place has by far the bigges nigiri I've ever had. Could easily cut each piece in half and have two normal sushi pieces. And it's the same deal with the maki rolls. I really wonder why they do it like this, as they could get more pieces and more money out of making it smaller. And of course, like all sushi trains in Norway, they are overpriced, and you might get it cheaper by ordering a dish. BUT, that said, they did have a very big selection of sushi on the belt. Probably the biggest I've seen on a sushi train establishment. So a pluss for that! And that you have to pay for ginger... only two other places I've seen that. Both in Norway, and one of the other is Sushi Point in Tromsø. Just that will always take one point from the raiting. Well that's my take on this place. To sum it up, waaaay to big pieces, which destroys some of the experience. And they also take American Express credit card.
I have to say, we ate at different sushi places in Nord-Norge, this place is by far the best quality/price sushi restaurant. Smiling chefs, good quality fish, good prices.
Still the worst SUSHI ever. Smells like fish and if u know sushi you know that it is not supposed to smell like fish. Bad bad bad . Alta Desserves good sushi and this is by far THE WORST SUSHI EVER! And then the Service . WOW you guys must really hate your jobs... Really dislike this place really really bad!
