Had to change my review to 2 from 5. The wait staff was very rude to multiple people not in our party. I was told I couldn’t wait at the bar and must buy a ticket for the kids going to the movie. They were 15. Was told I couldn’t leave them alone. Needed to buy a $16 ticket to sit there. Not for any reason other than there must be a 21 in the theatre for any one under 18. I had to lower my review from 5 stars to 2 stars. The wait staff was quite rude to several guests, not just our party. I was informed that I couldn't wait at the bar unless I purchased a ticket for my 15-year-old kids who were attending a movie. I was told I couldn't leave them unattended and had to buy a $16 ticket just to stay in the area. This policy seemed to stem from a requirement that there must be an adult over 21 in the theater for anyone under 18. Additionally, a drink and popcorn cost $22, which is pricier than what you'd find at AMC theaters. I wanted to maintain my 5-star review, but this visit was simply disappointing.
The bartender had a really poor attitude and was quite rude. When we arrived at the bar, she didn't greet us and her service was lacking throughout our visit. At one point, I asked, “Can I get a sangria?” and she responded, “We don’t have that,” with a dismissive tone before turning away to attend to other tasks. I also ordered a burger, which was supposed to come with lettuce, onion, cheese, and bacon (for which I paid extra), but it arrived with only cheese and onions. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I hope they can improve!
Edit: They only responded after I posted this review. It turns out they include gratuity in the bill, but the receipt I signed did not mention this and still had a line for a tip. As a result, I inadvertently ended up double-tipping. They did provide us with free movie passes as a gesture, so I’m updating my review from 2 stars to 3 stars. However, I really dislike places that automatically include gratuity, especially when the receipt implies that a tip is expected without clarifying that one has already been included. This policy is problematic and needs to be addressed. Offering free passes is not a solution to the underlying issue. Furthermore, it would have been preferable if they had responded to my initial inquiry rather than waiting for my negative review.
I have had 3 bad experiences here where there doesn't seem to be enough staff to take orders, deliver food or drinks, clean the theater or even the bathrooms. My wife ordered wine tonight and at the halfway point in the movie I asked staff where the wine was. They told me to go to the bar. I told them I shouldn't have to and that defeats the purpose behind a pleasant experience being able to order dinner in the theater. Plus I paid a hefty tip by default for poor service. The men's bathroom had one working faucet, no paper towels or toilet paper in any stall, and pee all over the floor. The staff keeps quitting because of customers being upset and the stress. I learned this in a previous visit where they closed the kitchen because they couldn't keep up.I can't keep trying to give this place another shot. I want to, but their issues are not my issues and there are many other movie dine-in locations.I know this place is trying to improve, but I think they are trying to do too much with too little.
CMX CinéBistro at Halcyon: A Theatrical Experience with Minor Plot TwistsThe allure of a cinematic experience enhanced with gourmet treats is, to many, the epitome of leisure. CMX CinéBistro at Halcyon promises just this, enveloped in an ambiance of sophistication, and mostly delivers. However, like any intriguing movie, there are unexpected twists. The location, right in the heart of Halcyon, is impeccable. The theater 's exterior emanates elegance, and as you enter, the swanky bar, replete with TVs, beckons. Once inside the auditorium, reclining in the lavish seats, you 're set for a near perfect experience. The keyword being near .A few glitches in the script appear, primarily in the form of service. For a theater that prides itself on upscale offerings, the staff seems stretched thin. Long waits at the bar can test one 's patience, and the 'arrive 20 minutes early ' directive is often met with unprepared theaters. The unique service model, where everything right from popcorn to soda needs a server 's touch, adds to the delay. It 's a tad disappointing when your soda pops in during the climax or your popcorn misses the trailers.Rating: A mixed 3.8 out of 5 stars. CMX CinéBistro 's grandeur and affordability, especially for matinee shows, is delightful. But the service glitches give an unexpected pause in an otherwise seamless experience. Here 's hoping the sequel irons out these wrinkles for a blockbuster hit!
