Ordered a Vegetarian Burrito, and an order of b... read more Stopped in at Mango 's on my recent trip up to Alpena, and I have to say my experience was rather disappointing. Ordered a Vegetarian Burrito, and an order of bean and cheese nachos. What I got definitely could not be classified as a burrito but rather some morphed enchilada and burrito mix, I mean the burrito didn 't even have beans or cheese as fillings, just vegetables, the beans and rice were put on the side. The bean and cheese nachos I ordered ended up being beef and cheese nachos, and being a vegetarian, that meant they ended up in the trash. The service was great, and the atmosphere while I waited was good..

I see there menu has now added many Am... read more This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Alpena. No matter what time we come in here the food and drinks are delicious. I see there menu has now added many American foods. I have not tried any of them my son said there burger was really good. As always our food was top notch. We will be back as this is one of our favorite places to eat.

We stopped in from out of town not knowing what to expect and it was fabulous. Food was great, service was wonderful and prices were very reasonable. It was very clean and, despite it being packed, wasn’t too loud to enjoy our dinner together. There’s also a beautiful painting on the wall of the neighboring building that was quite astonishing, sit outside if the weather permits. Lovely place!

Lots of meat but it was dry and tough and the tortillas were barely warmed. My husband had a fajita quesadilla and was also not impressed. Not sure we'll go back. Three stars is generous based on the service and ambiance. Food was less than 2 stars based on our experience.

This business has the typical selections you expect to see at a sit down Mexican restaurant where the food and the ingredients are fresh and the dishes well made and very tasty. For my entree I had the Burrito Azteca that had chorizo, carnita's, grilled onions, topped with red, green and white sauce and garnished sour cream and avocado. Very very tasty. The burrito was accompanied by Mexican rice and beans that were equally well made and tasty. the true testament of how good this dish was is that I cleaned my plate which I normally dont do and usually have food left over on my plate. the meal was accompanied by gratis house chips and sauce which were excellent and a LARGE house margarita on special for $6 which was oh so tasty and quite a deal in itself. in fact I plan on returning here in the very near future for just the Margarita alone as I am a huge fan of well made ones which this business clearly excels at. Relative to environment it is very casual and very colorful with bright vibrant colors and Mexican theme painted furniture that clearly adds to the dining experience. staff is very friendly with great follow up and appears to be another strength of this business. Overall i had a wonderful dining experience and can attest that the high YELP scores you see on this business are well deserved. i definitely will be returning in the near future to sample other items on their menu and to order another one or two of their Margaritas.

Never feeling sad about choosing Mexican in any form, we all opted for Mangos. The service was excellent. I'll make a note here to say they have an option to add a round of drinks for the kitchen staff to your tab and I love that they do that!! I sure was excited about the Margaritas we ordered a pitcher but alas, they weren't so good. Too sweet, no lime, felt like a fluorescent colored mix and not a very good one. The carnitas tacos though not bad!!! I polished those off with ease. We ate our way through several baskets of chips and salsa and I couldn't get enough of their queso. Chips needed a little salt but they offered individual bowls for the salsa and frankly they win the day with that move.

The manager was kind enough to offer my girlfriend and me a new burrito, but we couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being glared at the entire time. The atmosphere can be quite loud as people chat and socialize. The entrance feels a bit cramped, resembling an underground nightclub, but overall, the place is visibly clean. Despite the minor issues, it's definitely the best spot for Mexican food in Alpena!

TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! Our waitress Crystal (started in March2022, she said) was very accommodating and friendly) My problem with this place is the lack of quality control and seasonings!The food is super bland and the so called fresh vegetables like lettuce for the major one, and tomatoes, cheese, onions,cilantro leaves are CONSTANTLY MOLDED AND SLIMY!!! I 've had ecoli once in my life and I 'll be damned if it happens again! Thisplace seriously needs evaluated by the health department before the kill someone! And yes! You CAN die from ecoli! I was in thehospital for over 2 weeks after eating contaminated food less than 24 hours before!!! (And YES, IT WAS TRACED BACK TO THERESTAURANT I WAS AT! This place isbland, gros, overpriced. And , quite honestly the owner is a jerk... he won 't even TRY to fixit... just tell you to get out! I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was very friendly. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that the latch on the bathroom stall was not very secure—perhaps it was just mine, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Thank you for the amazing food!

The food was top-notch, the service was exceptional, and the prices were very reasonable. The place was spotless, and despite being busy, it wasn't too loud, which allowed us to enjoy our dinner together. There's also a beautiful painting on the wall of the adjacent building that caught our attention; if the weather is nice, I suggest dining outside. Overall, it's a fantastic place!

If you're thinking of dining in on a Friday or Saturday night, it's a good idea to make a reservation, as you may have to wait around an hour. The salsa and chips are complimentary, but they could use a bit more flavor. A touch of spice in the salsa and some light seasoning on the chips while frying would really enhance the overall experience.
