Great to have a late lunch (open from 12pm to 11pm). Grilled fish is the best!! Other options in the fish/seafood plan are also great!
We have been going to the Costa for over 30 years and have eaten in most of the restaurants and cafes in the area. What we found is that Primavera was one of the worst, none antitive staff who thought it was more important to set up tables for the next customers who hadn't even arrived yet then attend to the customers who were there. We had to try and catch someone eye just to ask for our order. When we finally had our food served the portions were tiny, my wife had a Bitoque which in any of the other restaurants would have been a child's size plate of food not only that everything on the plate was very greasy. I had grilled fish which again was on the small size, tiny fish, 2 Halves of 1 boiled potatoe and a bit of salad on side as an afterthought,. I had the same dish 2 days previously at another restaurant which was superior and cheaper. I noticed that restaurant has had a lot of work done to it over the years, I would suggest that they invest more on the customer service and food then on decoration.
We've had the best shrimps, clams and Sangria Branca. Will definitely return again as the service was fast and the staff was very nice and knowledgeable
I don 't know if it 's racism, or a dislike of tourists, but our server was prickly when he saw us, and it just got worse. I smiled and greeted him, but didn 't get a smile in return, just a continuous scowl on his face. He didn 't seat us, just waved his hand in an area to indicate that we could sit wherever. He brought over the couvert which was quite nice (bread, olives, cheese, pâtés, cheese spread). When he returned moments later, we placed our drinks order, sangria, but hadn 't looked at the rest of the menu yet. Their drinks menu is long, and not speaking Portuguese, we didn 't know quickly what we wanted. It 's customary to order drinks first, not be rushed to also know your meals. He was annoyed he couldn 't place our food order too, stood there with impatience. We explained in a few ways we haven 't looked yet. When he returned, he loudly chastised my husband for bending back the menu. Repeating No!, No! No! Not like that. He TOOK IT from him, unfolding it. I WAS SHOCKED the server reprimanded him like this. My husband is a mild mannered, quiet, easy going person at all costs, and assumed that he was in the wrong. He was a bit nervous and intimidated by this guy, not wanting to look foolish ordering in a language he doesn 't speak. He placed our order anyway, not focusing on the fact that he was just berated. Against my better judgement, we didn 't leave right then. The bacalhau and espetada de lula were tasty, I liked the shrimp the best. It was a good value for €47, then again, we live in expensive Toronto and are used to paying double that. We got through the meal, which should have been pleasant, and a representation of decent Portuguese seafood, in awkward silence. I felt very uncomfortable, UNWELCOME, and UNWANTED. It was awful to sit there for almost 2 hours feeling like you don 't belong. He didn 't return to check on us, or ask if we wanted anything else. He was lingering in the background watching us, but never approached us at the end of our meal. He spoke with the other diners, checked on them. Finally, another server had to come over and clear our plates. He asked us how everything was, and I told him the truth, that the meal was wonderful, please give our compliments to the chef. He said But...? This server knew. He understood his colleague. I told him the service wasn 't good, that we felt offended. He said he was sorry to hear that, got our bill and we left without seeing the server again. He stayed in the kitchen, cowardly not wanting to face us again. I know that not everyone likes their job, and shouldn 't be serving customers. But this server is doing you a great disservice Restaurante Primavera. In this age of social media, where reviews are easily shared, word gets out. Maybe you don 't care, you just want locals to eat there, or NOT people of colour. If that 's the case, believe me, the truth is going to get around quickly. The restaurant was NOT busy by the way, but the server certainly bustled around quickly. No one came in after us. We left at 10:30.
After a disappointing first night (last week) at a restaurant in Cacilhas. We ventured to Costa da Caparica and surely not we gone to Primavera restaurant on the main street, Rua dos Pescadores that now looks great with the new pavement. I had grilled cod and my missus had bife au champignon as main courses. Both of the dishes were as good as anyone could expect. We had bread and cheese, olives to start with and as drinks goes we order a good bottle of Borba, white. As for dessert we had a shared ice cream. Plenty for the two of us. The service was as good as one could expect. The waiters were attentive and caring, not the type that don't leave you alone to eat your meal. We both really enjoyed our meals. For me the bacalhau was a feast to my taste buds. And then we meat Terry seating on the next table a 84 year old that was born in east London and fresh from running the Newcastle marathon. He really liked to talk. We could have been there all night. Nevertheless with all my honesty. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. It will help if you know more or less what you would like to eat. Advice to everyone. If you don't want something that the waiter may offer you, refuse or say no. Best cod I had this year.
