While many patrons sing praises for the delightful food and friendly atmosphere, some have noted inconsistencies in service and food quality. Complaints about high drink prices and unwelcoming staff contrast with glowing reviews highlighting generous portions and excellent attention from the management. Despite a few setbacks, the pub’s vibrant crowd and appealing decor create an inviting experience, proving that The Wainwright Arms remains a must-visit destination in Keswick.
This pub is fantastic, and credit goes to Johan and the team for running it so smoothly. It embodies the perfect atmosphere of a pub in the Lake District. They offer a variety of beers, delicious food, and a diverse crowd all enjoying themselves. My wife mentioned that the Christmas decorations this year were especially impressive, Johan. We will definitely be returning every time we visit Keswick.
The food was not good and unfortunately, the staff did not seem to care much. It's a shame because this place has a good reputation. The food was okay, but the bad service culture of the staff was disappointing.
We all had fish and chips and one had sausage and mash x. It was lovely. Big portions. Home made chips not horrid frozen ones. Quick service. Nice bar. Friendly atmostphere. Deffo go again x
I was greeted by a very unfriendly bartender who charged me £9 for a pint of beer and a lime and soda. I had to request a receipt and he reluctantly gave it to me. When I asked about the price of the lime and soda, he just grunted. £1.90 for soda and £2 for lime cordial... unbelievable! On the positive side, £5.10 for a pint seemed like a good deal!
Great pub with a great name. Had an excellent gluten free fish and chip meal with a fantastic gluten free draught ale. Very polite and clean. Thank you
