Stopped today for coffee and what was an excellent bacon and egg butty on a fresh and tasty sourdough bun. Service was efficient, polite and friendly and the coffee and food was just right. A perfect place to eat and have a break whilst exploring Borrowdale. View all feedback.
What jaclyt doesn't like about Grange Cafe:
I am very disappointed with the hot chocolate I had at this restaurant today. I decided to stop in for a comforting drink after a nice walk, but for £3, I expected a proper hot chocolate made with milk. We visit this café every year, whether it be for tea, coffee, cake, or lunch. The food is exceptional and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, with some seating available under a shelter, which is perfect for any weather conditions.
My wife and I were staying in Grange and were regular visitors if we didn't travel too far. The staff were fantastic. Service was quick and quality of food was good at a reasonable price. It was busy at all times of day. We would highly recommend the cakes.
Excellent stop for a very satisfying lunch. Very friendly. Food freshly prepared and of high quality. Always stop here for refreshments, even during winter. Generous helpings and very reasonably priced.
Called in intending to have a coffee and cake then a leisurely stroll along the river, but my husband (74) needed to use the facilities and found to his dismay that the local toilets needed certain coins and he only had £1 coins! Asked at the cafe if they could change his £1 coin to be told no, they were not allowed. Could have shown a bit of compassion for an elderly man in discomfort.
Good choice of cakes, nice coffee and tea. As many seats outside as in, so must get very busy when it's raining. Not too crowded when we visited so we had a good chat with the staff and the folk on the next door table. As someone else said, a good pit stop.
