We ate at the Lake View Restaurant twice during our stay and really enjoyed each meal. This is a typical English/British restaurant with an excellent menu, great wine list, warm ambiance, good service and reasonable prices, so happiness all round. We also ordered lunch and... View all feedback.
What colinl857 doesn't like about Lodore Falls Lake View:
We visited July 7 after walking from Keswick expecting a pleasant lunch and drinks .On arrival we placed an order for drinks and asked for the bar lunch menu. Some 40 minutes later the drinks had not arrived despite 6 waiting and bar staff in... View all feedback.
The venue and the staff combined with good food made an excellent experience. We had a lovely evening meal the starter and main was delicious but the sweets that we had were underwhelming and lacked the quality of the rest of the meal. Perhaps thinking about it 4 stars may be more appropriate only for that reason. The prices aren’t over the top for the level of quality and would definitely return.
Drove an hour to take my parents (85 and 90) for a light lunch in the lake view lounge today. I’d noticed they weren’t doing Sunday lunch due to an event, but as we only wanted a tea cake or a sandwich, that didn’t stop us going. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were told no food at all was being served to non- residents in the lounges or conservatory. Why not state this on the website and save two elderly people a round trip of 2 hours. Annoying and disappointing.
Visited the ladore falls restaurant for a treat on Saturday. The staff and atmosphere were wonderful and the Christmas decorations amazing but the food was moderate at best…. Cheese soufflé was a cross between a cheese scone and sponge cake, cod was completely overpowered with sourkraut and the mill-fuille was still frozen through. When we sent it back the restaurant manager came back to explain that it was “frozen instead of using gelatin to set” ! Worst excuse ever for a rubbish desert ! Such a shame ! We won’t be rushing back
I thought I’d booked for the Mizu Pan Asian. I went on the website clicked on this and then got a chatbot asking what I wanted to do. I clicked ‘book a table’ and thought I had. Transpired I booked for the Lake View restaurant. We went to the Asian one which had no tables free we’d been recommended here by the place we were staying at but had to eat in the main hotel restaurant. Food was bang average, expensive and small portions. I had the monkfish and the veg was salty. I had the pear crumble for dessert which was a take on a crumble. Advice to restaurants: crumble is best when it’s done traditionally. This one was tasteless and consisted of a poached pear in a ramekin with oat crumble which was tasteless. We’d eaten in four other pubs and restaurants on our visit to the Lakes all of which knocked spots off this one. My son had been here last week and he said the Asian restaurant was really nice but the Lake View one was average at best and overpriced.
Called in for lunch having walked around derwent water. Outside it says everyone welcome food all day. Don’t believe it. We are only serving residents no apologies! Having wanted to visit for 60+ years we won’t be trying again. It’s not the reception we expect from the Lake District
