Nestled in a vibrant setting, this charming café offers a dog-friendly atmosphere with a menu that delights. Many patrons rave about the delicious cakes and well-crafted afternoon teas, although some found issues with certain dishes due to inconsistency in preparation. Despite a few service-related hiccups and long waits, the friendly staff often make amends with their warm hospitality, creating a welcoming vibe. Diners appreciate the clean and spacious environment, along with reasonably priced, quality food. Overall, it's a delightful spot that combines great service with a lovely culinary experience, earning it a spot on the must-visit list.

We ordered in an afternoon tea from the Carnegie Cafe for work and for all £20 might sound expensive, the tea was generally nice and came in separate savoury and sweet boxes. I didn't care much for the quiche, which was rather hard, and the sandwiches were so so, but this was balanced out by the chicken gujon, a chunky sausage roll, and spring rolls on the savoury side. However, top marks to the sweet box from the Carnegie. The scone and clotted cream was beautiful, the cakes were really well made( the sponge especially), and the two chocolate mints were a nice touch. I think most of us needed a nap after this and we will consider ordering in afternoon tea from here next year.

Came for a bite to eat with my family. Paninis, sandwiches and baguettes which were so soft. Massive latte which meant I was happy. Very nice

My wife and I ordered our food at 11:45 and at 12:00 we asked a waitress when our food would be ready. She said they were busy but it was being made. At 12:10 we asked another waitress when could we expect our order, she said they were just waiting for chips. At 12:20 we were just about to cancel our order when the waitress arrived with our order. I told her we had been waiting 35 minutes and people had been served with food (including chips) who had only been waiting five minutes. As I was telling her this she actually turned around and walked away from us. Total bad manners towards a paying customer. When I started to eat my food I found the pie was dry and crispy, the chips white and yet red hot and the peas were dried out. Perhaps we'd been forgotten, I don't know. We left most of the food and didn't bother to complain on the way out because of the staff attitude we didn't think it would be worth it. What I do know is the staff were rude and didn't seem unduly bothered by their poor performance, the food was cooked to a very poor standard and I definitely will not be visiting here again.

Visited to have afternoon tea. Better half had a “Tractor shed” tea which was savoury and a bottle of fine Tractor Shed ale. The sweet afternoon tea was delicious. We took the leftovers home because the food was so nice. Definitely worth booking.

Ate here a week ago and had a nice mixed leaf salad returned today. OMG ordered mixed leaf ham salad with a side Caeser Sauce. My wife ordered a Prawn Mixed leaf salad with a side chilli sauce. We had a Pot of Tea. It arrived withina few minutes. This was not mixed leaf this was a lettuce cut into strips, both plates), the prawns were very small, hard, and whoever had prepared it had just tipped the side of Chilli sauce over the whole pate and it was swimming in it. The ham salad, see photo) at least the Caeser sauce was in a small pot, but the salad was just lettuce cut up. There was some ham, which was ok, once I had removed the fat. The tea cup, was hacky, and didnt realise this until I had taken a drink. Very dissapointed.
