What User doesn't like about Uncle Julio's Allen:
We used to dine other locations including Oak Lawn and Fort Worth. Been a few years since. I always loved the creativity and unique plates they offered that separated them from the many other Mexican restaurants. I looked for some of the dishes such as Cadillac Fajitas and the grilled meat feast that included carnitas, ribs, Fajitas. several meats. They are no longer on the menu. We asked for shrimp chicken Fajitas f... View all feedback.
This is the best barbacoa I have ever had! Jesiah was an amazing server and the drinks are strong!
We were very disappointed with our experience at Onkel Julio's. It had been a while since we had visited, but we decided to try their taco bar. When we tried to order and make some substitutions, we were told multiple times that we couldn't make any changes. This was surprising, as it clearly states on their menu that substitutions are allowed. We understand that there may be an additional charge for certain changes, but to be told we couldn't make any substitutions at all was frustrating, especially considering some people have allergies. We came specifically to try this new dish, but now we won't be returning. It's unfortunate to have to leave a restaurant feeling like we can't have our preferences accommodated. In contrast, our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant may be more expensive, but at least we can get exactly what we want there. It would be beneficial for Onkel Julio's to consider allowing substitutions to attract more customers, rather than turning them away.
As a former resident of the DFW area, we are very familiar with Uncle Julio's and the incredible dining experience it offers. Our recent visit was no exception. The restaurant's location is convenient, just a short drive from the outlets and other shopping amenities. We stopped for lunch and decided to try the barbacoa fajitas, which were absolutely delicious and priced at around $20, making it a satisfying meal for both of us. After adding drinks, appetizers, and tips, our total bill came to about $30 (including the must-have queso for first-time Tex-Mex enthusiasts). The service was outstanding, with our glasses constantly being refilled and every request being promptly fulfilled. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to return.
Bad customer service. for two of our commands, eating was done wrong. management not friendly or want to help to experience a guests better.
If this review was based solely on the food and “atmosphere” I would give it 4 stars; however, this location is SO busy… wait times are excessive even with a reservation (seated 20 min after our designated time). Also… random — but the kitchen door has an excruciatingly annoying squeak every time it is opened (which is constantly) that could be heard throughout the entire restaurant. Some WD40 might do it some good? ?SERVICE: Our waitress started out being attentive and then didn’t show up for the last half of our visit. She did apologize which I appreciated but waiting around another 15+ min after finishing dinner for a to go box was tedious.Wouldn’t recommend visiting on a Friday evening due to how busy and most likely short-staffed they are.FOOD: The chips were tasty, salsa was a universal kind of yummy. The platinum swirl margs were good but the size was disappointingly small for the price.Fajitas were really good minus the three small choking-sized pieces of bone hidden in multiple strips of my chicken fajitas. In all, I’d give this place another shot but would plan for a weekday instead of weekend visit! And pleaseee fix the squeaky kitchen door.
