We really enjoy Joe's! The food is better than average—not exceptional, but good—and the staff is friendly. Like many places, they've raised their prices, but they're still quite reasonable. We've tried every pizza joint in the area, and we found Joe's next on the list for New York-style pizza. However, that's not a huge compliment since the pizza around here is usually pretty bad. What User doesn't like about Joe's Italian Bistro:
I’m not sure why it took so long to get water; filling three cups seems like a simple task. Perhaps the waitress was preoccupied chatting in the kitchen, who knows? It felt like we waited at least 15 minutes, and there were hardly any customers—just two other tables. Everything took forever. My chicken was tough, and overall, the experience was disappointing. We love Joe?s. Better than average food (not exceptional, but good and a friendly team of employees. They, like everyone else, have raised their prices, but still are pretty reasonable. We have tried just about every pizza place in the area and this isthe closest we have found to actual NY style. It isn?t a great compliment though because the pizza in the area is mostlyterrible. Their rolls are great though, and they offer a legit calzone with ricotta (although I typically order mine withextra. Their dining area is tight though, I wish they had a bit more space inside but their location is pretty convenient, wetypically get the food to go.
Birthday dinner. Showed up around 5:30 pm. No issues getting seated. Shortly after we had been there, the dinner rush hit and all tables filled up. Ordered fried calamari $10.99), stuffed mushrooms $9.99), and Joe's salad $7.99) for appetizers. Allwere fair with decent portion sizes. We then had two XL pizzas for our party of six. The XL 18 Joe's Special $20.99) and XL18 Hawaiian $20.99) were plenty for everyone. Only recommendation would be for the temp to be hotter so that the crust iscrispy rather than limp and soggy. Service was standard though everyone was friendly and did their best to be attentive. Wortha shot if you're looking for Italian in the area.
I don't know why it took so long to bring waters. I would think it's easy to fill up three cups with water. Maybe the be waitress got busy chatting in the kitchen who knows. It felt at least 15 min and there were hardly anyone there. Two othertables. Everything just took a long time. My chicken was tough . I won't be coming here again. I was bummed out because it'sclose to our home and want it to be our go-to place.
Joe's Italian Bistro is a local Italian diner that fits the stereotypical strip shopping center Americanized version of Italian food. With that being said, the food is pretty decent. When my daughter and I had a regular weekday lunch there, there werefour older ladies having a get together there talking about their life and family (I tried not to eavesdrop...but they spokevery clearly to my table)...which is really what a restaurant is all about (shared experiences over meal). In regards to ourmeal, the pizza is pretty good (I did enjoy the anchovies...which is not typically served at other establishments), though notmemorable. My daughter thought her children's portion of lasagna was tasty. So overall, it is a nice place to go if you livein Allen and want something local and Italian as well as desire something other than Olive Garden.
