This well maintained hotel is built around 1875, aka sandy creek pub, is still quite original, publican -kevin ensures that they remember their names, so they get the personal treatment to feel them home. adjacent to the pub is a large free camp (small expenditure in pub estimated) with good clean conveniences behind the pub. Closed children pay area with miniature, silky bantam chickens, a jumping castle, and sheep... View all feedback.
What Rebecca Korondy dislikes about Darling Downs:
If I could give this racist staffed little pub a negative rating i would. Thought in this day and age racism was done with. For such a cute establishment it is a pity the staff/owners have made it such a horrible place to be. Will never return and will spread the word about out experience. Such a shame too as we had an amazing time only two years ago. View all feedback.

Excellent hospitality and wonderful owners! I highly recommend visiting this place; you won't be disappointed. The food is fantastic!
Stayed here on the way back from Nindi Gully Pig Races where the owner of this hotel (also owner of the Pigs) did a fantastic job for charity working all day and they raised over $35000 for Royal Flying Doctor Service. Loved the feel of this pub and the old fashioned welcome we received. Food was great also.

Best steak sanga EVER !! Great peaceful pub, cold beer, good service and friendly locals , what more could you want.
Established around 1875, also known as Sandy Creek Pub, this well-maintained hotel retains much of its original charm. The owner, Kevin, takes great care to remember guests' names, providing a personal touch that makes you feel right at home. Next to the pub, there is a spacious free camping area, with a small purchase at the pub appreciated. The clean facilities located behind the pub are a great bonus. There is a fenced play area for kids, complete with miniature silky bantam hens, a jumping castle, and during our visit, we even saw sheep with twin lambs. The bar and garden bar area have a rustic charm, and the overall atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owner with a big smile, making us feel at home right away. The home-cooked meals were delightful, and we also enjoyed some cold beer. The spacious campground easily accommodated our bus. Treat yourself to a short drive off the highway and give this place a try; you won’t regret it!
Fantastic camping, delicious food, and warm-hearted locals. Truly genuine country hospitality. Don't pass this up, whether you're just stopping in for a meal and a drink or seeking a spot to camp for the night.

We attended an event at the Darling Downs Hotel in May, and I must say, the staff were fantastic. It was quite busy at times, with crowds of people five deep at the bar, but the team managed it all with a smile and maintained a friendly demeanor. Thank you for taking such great care of us; we will definitely be back!
Refreshing cold drinks, delicious dinner at an affordable price, and a welcoming atmosphere.
This is a wonderful little country pub! I really appreciate how my brother can leave his money at the bar for the next round. I've only been there a couple of times, but everyone has been friendly and very welcoming. I absolutely loved the experience!
