This restaurant offers incredible food and excellent service. You certainly won't leave feeling hungry!
While we appreciated that all food is made to order, which can lead to longer wait times, it felt like our food took an unusually long time to arrive considering we were a party of five. Upon leaving, we felt that instead of being transparent about prices, we were hit with several unexpected charges. For example, the Smothered Chicken plate was supposed to come with an extra side, but when we inquired about the options, the server simply pointed us to the menu, and we ended up being charged $2.00 for one of those sides. Additionally, we were asked if we wanted dressing for the breaded mushrooms, and the waitress suggested ranch. We agreed, only to discover that we were charged $0.50 for each of the two dressings. To our surprise, we were also charged for a glass of water, as no additional water was brought to our table. In our experience dining across the country, water is typically complimentary with a meal, so this charge was quite unexpected. These are just a few examples of why we felt we were being nickeled and dimed. The additional charges amounted to around $3.70, which isn't a large sum, but we'd prefer that it be included in the overall menu prices rather than surprising us at checkout. Coming from the southeastern U.S., we are accustomed to servers informing diners about any upcharges. On a positive note, the restaurant itself is charming, with creative storage solutions like antique chests. It did appear that they were a bit short-staffed, which seems to be a common issue everywhere right now, as it's hard to find good help. Overall, we would definitely consider returning, as the food was good. We hope they will review their current billing practices and consider eliminating these extra charges.
