Food was delicious and good prices. Only downside is they don’t accept payment by card. Only cash. We had to walk a long distance searching for one because the ones near by didn’t have cash… and when we got back the waiter said we could’ve paid with mbway… he should have said that before.

If you like shell fish then you wont far wrong here it has never disappointed me with great service even with my limited Portuguese we both get by

This is a very simple no frills place next to the refurbished Algés market. The décor is simple and the service basic but good natured. the prices reflect this. No frills just good value. the name means The Coalman , in Portugues the coal is charcoal. We go for freshly grilled sardines in season. Always freshly cooked five for about €8.50 with salad and potatoes. Other grilled dishas have been good too and there is always a selection of other traditional Portuguese meals. the menu is updated daily.

I had a nice codfish and they gave me a candle made of waste oil. The place is confortable and in one of the most picturesque neighbourhoods in Lisbon.
