Lo que dice todo el mundo. El arroz muy rico. El problema es que tienes que buscarles para que te atiendan. Estuvimos una hora esperando el arroz. La bebida es cara, respecto a la comida. Muy bien, pero ve sin prisa y con paciencia
Had a lovely mixed paella. Very busy with locals and Spanish holiday makers enjoying different paellas and other rice dishes. Great friendly service. Would definitely recommend.
We had amazing rice dishes here. Ordered arroz negro and arroz meloso and both were absolutely amazing. They were very nice and accommodating with the little ones. We’ll definitely come back soon.
This is the place to come to if you want to get an idea of real Spanish rice dishes. The roots of the restaurant and its chef; Merche, are in Alicante, home to many such dishes, and her skill in the kitchen shines through. You can try various versions of an 'arroz meloso ', a sort of soupy rice dish where not all the cooking liquid is allowed to be absorbed into the rice, and which most places wouldn 't dare to offer as it 's so tricky to get right. Merche 's version has a deliciously savoury stock in it I just use 'moralla ' for it she claims, ie cheap boney fish nobody normally buys. I can 't help feeling there 's more to it than that, and that Merche has some secrets she is reluctant to pass on). More familiar dishes cooked in wide, flat paella pans, come with the rice cooked to a perfect degree of tenderness, and everything comes in generous quantities. Of course, these things are cooked from scratch, so while you are waiting there are some interesting starters: authentic Alicante 'salazones ' salted and dried fish products, such as preserved roe); 'saquitos ', pancakes stuffed with a rich mixture of prawns, leeks and cream cheese, formed into purse like shapes, and served with a cream sauce; or fresh artichokes in season, deliciously charred and just tender, served with slivers of ham. I am looking forward to trying others. There are some home made puds too, which you might like to share great 'torrijas ' with ice cream, a rich cheesecake or pancakes smothered in chocolate sauce. You do not leave this place hungry.
