Great pub. Would be 5 stars but the dog of the pub is a nuicense when eating. I love dogs and welcome the pub being dog friendly, but please stop the house dog begging and sitting at the table. It's all very well putting a do not feed bandana on the dog but stop it begging at tables in the first instance. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5 View all feedback.
We had a fantastic roast dinner on Sunday, both had the roast beef and it was delicious and plentiful, beef was cooked to perfection and plenty of it, veg and roast potatoes also very tasty and enjoyable, probably best roast we've had in a while. Good service and welcoming we will be back. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Great proper pub in Alfriston with interesting history. Delicious food with pies as a speciality. Excellent selection of beers (e.g. Leffe Blonde, Harvey's Best). Friendly landlord (Chris) and staff.
We only popped into this gorgeous 350 year old pub for a drink as Alfriston Clergy House was closed! Warm, welcoming, inglenook log fire burning! So laid back and relaxed, lots of dogs, walkers drying off their boots in front of the fire whilst playing Scrabble. We only had a plate of chilli beef nachos but so tasty! The roast beef Sunday lunch was going down a storm and sold out whilst we were there. We must return. As it quietened down, we met the owner and chef Chris, so personable and friendly and explaining his pie-press to us! A great local pub that deserves its well earned stars! Vegetarian options: There was a nut roast on the Sunday lunch menu
