Apparently I needed to tick a box on the fork website to get an outside table. .we asked for one ..you know when someone is faking being helpful..yup anyway .. “Inside is air con” Sat in a hot room, near the kitchen, with air conditioning that couldn’t be improved for us.. Ordered some wine..yup that was hot too! Not sure they cared until h about that either really. We have been in the area all this week. This was the worst meal. Why? It’s trying very hard to be different and making a mess of it..trying to be different is great but it’s not successful. Risotto with raw prawns doesn’t work..the arborio was too stodgy. Raw prawns don’t work..both in texture and taste with the risotto..too much lemon ..again why? The steak was poor quality..bad choice from me but just fancied a steak and chips with primitivo and chips were soggy..(cooked in olive oil..wow..how new and exciting…and yet utter rubbish…but when I cook potatoes in olive oil they crisp up… Bread was excellent.. Had to sit in the car between courses and couldn’t wait to leave. 137 ish euros. Wish we had been at il bastione as we were yesterday..that was faultless. This isn’t.

Dear, unfortunately we didn't have the experience we had expected. eating is on average too good quality, but foreigners/tourists seem to receive smaller portio... read more Dear, unfortunately we didn't have the experience we had expected. eating is on average too good quality, but foreigners/tourists seem to receive smaller portions. so the sections where very small in our case. the menu is nothing special to keep standards like entrecôte and huh with french fries, is something they can get anywhere. the price is far too high for food quality. the service was average and at the end they wanted to change 5€ on the coperto. the bill also had 2 items we had not ordered. we will never come back.

Food is good, but expectations were high, so I cannot give the very good rating. Polpette di polpo were very good indeed, but the Alici were “killed” by a very heavy, yet delicious, impanatura. Polpo with puntarelle was good and the same for the Baccalà with crema di patate, even if pretty “standard”. Service was efficient and polite, not common in this part of Italy. The bill was in line with food quality (and recharge on wine was honest). As usual in Italy, the “coperto” is included, even if I’d push for a change towards a “tip based” service level recognition approach (understand they are compatible, but I never tip when coperto is charged). Recommended.

It was a totally spontaneous visit, as we were both craving something special and were treated to two perfectly cooked meals, served by pleasant professional staff in a beautiful restaurant, who can ask for anything more. Worth a visit, worth the price.
