Napoleon - ALESSANDRIA

We checked into our hotel after long drive and being recommended by the concierge to dine at this establishment, we made our way around the corner to Napoleon Ristorante for a light dinner. Off a well maintained street one enters the dining room via a side entrance which seems to signal a pleasant dining experience, however, that all changes once the rude and incompetent service (tattooed waitress) makes its first appearance. Yes, our Italian diction was limited but we were immediately made to feel unwelcome and that we’d intruded upon their elite inner circle by being foreigners. Our experience was; we ordered a bottle of wine and was served a pre-opened one with a glass full missing, next a little basket with 2 rolls and 4 grissini sticks (not ordered). That was followed by 2 pasta entrees we ordered that were, well, average at best. As our main course we chose to share a beef a tartare, prepared at the table, what a disappointment. Thrice minced beef paste with a few standard garnishes arrive on a side table, then the proprietor arrives to give you his 1960’s beef tartare floorshow with hand gestures resembling a retired shifty card dealer, to finally serve up a blob tasteless meat with a few crackers, impossible to consume. Not wanting to continue with our poor dining experience, we asked for the account. The disaster continues. When we received the account we were charged for items from the next table, over charged for the entrée pastas and €5 per person for supermarket bread rolls and grissini out of a packet, and also fully charged for the questionable bottle of wine. On paying our account we did point out our less than delightful experience in their establishment only to receive aggressive and condescending behaviour from our server. On departing we recommended that a little customer service training would be beneficial, not only for her but also for her employer’s establishment. If you intend to dine here and you from a foreign land, “Walk on by”, I’m sure there a more hospitable venues with a finer fare in this town that will appreciate your custom.

Came here with family for dinner, and had an enjoyable evening. Nice decor, good food, and also the staff where friendly and helpful in the choice of food.

We found this place by chance and we're delighted by the food and the atmosphere. Quantity, quality and price are what you expect from a family trattoria in Italy.

Ristorante di tradizione per specialità tipiche alessandrine. Mi aspettavo un 'accoglienza più cordiale, in quanto in sala con varie funzioni ci sono i proprietari da lunga data. Tanto più che ero un cliente nuovo, da acquisire .Ho avvertito poca interazione . Servizio buono, Cibo provato da 7. Visitato una settimana fa.
