Has two that we had a very pleasant meal both by the menu and by the warm welcome a good address so especially if we love local specialties as truite banka or kintoa pork but there are other tasty suggestions of course
Hotel nice rooms nice, bathroom clean. Decided to eat in restaurant at the hotel even after looking at the mixed reviews over the food. There were 2 menus one for 29euros and one for 33euros. There was 5 of us staying in the hotel and eating in the restaurant so a significant amount of money being spent I'd say. Enjoyed a few beers and we ordered a bottle of red wine, also nice and the chef even went out of his way to make my fussy son some pasta and tomato sauce. Not a spagetti bolognaise as such as had no meat but what he made was delicious. But onto the 33euro meal....hmmmm. starter I chose was trout roll, I enjoyed it, my mum the same and my dad and husband both had the pigs trotter croquet. Husband and dad will eat pretty much anything and they said they were just OK. I tried also and that was my opinion. For main, 3 of us ordered the rib, and husband ordered lamb shoulder. We very rarely complain but my husband said there was hardly any meat on his and what there was was tough. OK onto the rib. These were unedible sorry to say. They were mostly fat and this was sloppy rubbery and we couldn't eat it. We did call the owner over and explain to her that 3 of us couldn't eat them and she said this is the meat of the Basque area. Well we've stayed in the Basque area before and never had a problem with food. She did offer us to have another peice of meat but after my husband saying his wasn't the best either and the fact time was getting on now and we were tired from travelling I said it's OK we will just eat the potato (which I can say was very nice). Within the 33euro meal was a dessert, 2 of us had creme brulee and the other Basque cake, this was nice. During the whole meal in the restaurant and before eating during our drinks the place was bombarded with flies. Flies on your hands, flies on the glasses as you were trying to drink, flies on the bread they brought to the table and we spent all night wafting our hands around. Pretty annoying. Maybe they could try and prevent this with something as it made the meal rather uncomfortable. We were rather deflated after the meal as the place was so beautiful to look at and off to bed we went. The beds were comfy but no air con in the room (sweltering hot in July) and no way to leave the windows open as we had mosquitos in our room already so pretty stuffy didn't sleep all night as was up trying to de mozzie the room. My parents slept with their windows open as there was no air con and they couldn't breath and they were also up all night. If they aren't going to provide air conditioning then at least a fan or mosquito nets on the windows so you can breath I'd say. On check out the next morning we paid our room bill with cash and asked for the food bill also. They hadn't even complimented a free drink or took 5 euros off or anything after we could not even eat one bite of the 1 bone rib full of just fat. I asked are we still expected to pay full price for them eventhough we couldn't eat it and she said yes just like it was our problem...no no no not good customer service this. So on the whole rooms nice but don't waste your money paying for a meal there unless you'd like to throw money away. We weren't going to have breakfast here we'd already decided that straight after being disappointed by the evening meal we didn't want to chance throwing more money away. Would we return or recommend. No sorry.
Pleasant environment, friendly welcome, quality products, excellent quality ratio price. had a very good time
An exceptional traditional cuisine We received a very warm welcome, arrived without reservation, fortunately early because the restaurant is filled very quickly It is a very good address known and recognized by the people of the country, we eat only local products, The dishes are well presented, copied, served hot and without waiting too long. These are homemade dishes, no hundred thousand choices, a menu at about 32€ and dishes with meat and fish cards) A very good address to remember but for which to book
