Makeba is the kind of pla... read more What is happening in the world when you can unexpectedly discover a restaurant of this caliber in... where? Richibucto, New Brunswick? Makeba is the kind of place you dream of finding. The food is fresh and expertly prepared, the ambiance is tasteful, and the prices are fantastic, all in what many might consider a remote location. The owner and chef has a skilled touch, fully understands and values his ingredients, and brings them together beautifully. During a late lunch with no particular expectations, we were greeted with the most perfect lobster roll and Caesar salad we've likely encountered in all the Maritime provinces. The sweet, soft brioche roll was generously filled with fresh lobster, lightly dressed with homemade mayo—available at a price that seems hard to believe compared to other lobster rolls that simply cannot measure up. It's a solid 10 out of 10... though I secretly wish I hadn't tried this one first.
