Got the platter which is... read more Came in on a whim for lunch. They were working the smokers as I pulled up and the smell was amazing. Always a good sign of a BBQ joint. Got the platter which is two meats and two sides... Pulled pork, brisket, potato salad, and corn bread. The meats werereally flavorful and tender. The potato salad was extremely well made and tasty and the corn bread so so moist and delicious.There were three sauces to choose from and I sampled all three. Each one was delicious in its own right with one vinegary, onespicy, and one sweet. Kept it simple and it works. The place has a nice bar with interesting beers on tap. Has a nice feel tothe atmosphere. The service was also excellent and helpful. Not a bad thing to say about this place. I'll be back!

They offer 3 sauces: hot, vinegar and sweet. We mixed a little hot into the sweet and make our own little mixture of perfection! Hedidn't enjoy the mac-n-cheese however she loved it! Highly recommend it all!

Their BBQ sauces were a highlight—though only three varieties were available, each was flavorful. I went with the two-meat platter accompanied by mac and cheese and baked beans, while my friends chose the pulled pork sandwich, which they enjoyed for its juiciness. They kept coming back for more sauce, showing it paired well with their meal. I tried the chicken and brisket; I like a bit of fat in my brisket, and while this had some, it was slightly dry. I found myself dipping it in the spicy sauce—not sure if that was just my love for sauce or if the brisket needed it—but the sauce was definitely tasty. The baked beans had a nice sweet and tangy kick, so I’d recommend them if that’s your style. The mac and cheese, however, was quite plain—neither baked nor particularly cheesy—and lacked the extra flavor I hoped for. I’d give it about 3.5 stars if I could. I might come back to Hammerdown Barbecue down the line!

I do wish the BBQ plate came with some bread; we went with buns this time but will probably choose bread next visit. The patio is cozy, ideal for enjoying a mild sunny day. We tried the green beans and potato salad as sides, and both were tasty. Although the chicken was underwhelming, the ribs were outstanding.
