This place is fantastic! A few people had asked me if I had tried La Mexicana before, but I hadn’t even heard of it until I discovered it tucked away around the corner from Por Vida Tattoo Shop in downtown, right at 5th and Cole. Now I have a new favorite spot for tacos, and I can't wait to return. Everything else on the menu looks delicious too! I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Mexican food. I was hoping for a real good experience here, as I had been told it was really good!!! I was Very disappointed!!! The customer service was good, but the food, not so good. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros with green Chile, the Chile had a little bite to it, but it was very watery good for Chile stew, not on rancheros), I had to mix my beans with it to get consistency. They forgot to cook my Spam all the way and to put... View all feedback.
This restaurant is fantastic! The staff is very friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious.
However, my only issue—though I dislike complaining—was that I waited over an hour to pick up my order. There was a single line for both placing new orders and picking up pre-orders, which was quite confusing. After nearly an hour, they changed the setup, and the line I had been in switched to the line for food orders, forcing me to move to the tamale line and putting me behind people who had arrived after me. This was particularly difficult for me due to my arthritis in both knees and joint pain in my feet, making it a real struggle. It felt very inconsiderate and unfair. I strongly urge them to establish a better system for distributing pre-ordered tamales. Given this experience, I'm unsure if I will order from them again.
Wow. Just wow. We had to rise early on a Saturday to get close to the front of the line for tamales, but it was absolutely worth it. Next time, we’ll be sure to pre-order well in advance. It's no surprise they come highly recommended by KOB viewers. The staff was incredibly friendly and engaging, too. I can only imagine the stress they experience during this busy season while fulfilling thousands of orders, but you'd never know it from their positive attitudes. We ended up taking home two dozen red pork tamales, half a gallon of posole (stew), chips, and salsa queso for our traditional New Mexican Christmas feast. I can't wait to return for our tamale fix!
Had breakfast and picked up tamales for Christmas. The best service, family owned.
These people get it right. They have a small dinning room. But they have the good stuff.
