We just enjoyed a fabulous Japanese meal for my partner's birthday! We rode our bikes through the Bosque and popped out at Alameda, right at Ichiban! We ordered the Sushi Lunch (one California roll plus 7 assorted nigiri (chef's choice and a Build a Bowl (with teriyaki salmon, egg rolls, and a side salad with a deliciously bright citrus vinaigrette . What Natalie Senger doesn't like about Ichiban Japanese:
The service was very pleasant, but the food could use some tweaks. Our appetizers were probably the best dish we had, but the most important courses were far too oily. You could literally see how oil slips down the plate while you eat. Ichiban, you have great food, please cut the oil back! View all feedback.
I would have given this place four stars, considering that the food is decent, but the waitress is cut the throat. The table next to us asked if three reels would be enough for two people. She said with a smile. Well, I went past this computer server and heard them say, not enough, you're hungry in an hour? And laughed. My mouth almost fell into another table. Set up Gangsta servers that don't have F?s. I couldn't see her in the face for the remaining part of our food. Food is decent. I would order this server again. The restaurant is clean and tidy and we all know that we feel comfortable when the cracks are clean.
If I couldn't give a star rating, I would. I'm so disappointed and mad. Since I've been 14 years old, I've been here for over 15 years and even switched off during the pandemic. I came in today with my mother, my husband and three children. We order a few menu items and a lot of sushi. The soup was barely warm, the sea altar had hair in it, (coming from a restaurant manager, hair is my biggest pet Peeve) then we order a Yaki soba noodle dish for the children they ended us the completely false yaki soba dish. My children have barely eaten there because it was just so inconspicuous, I sent back the seaweed salad, some of the fish on the sushi did not taste properly (I worked for years at Slapfish, I know how fresh fish tastes) and overtake it all from the servers and waitresses that we were twice over the whole hour and half there. As a restaurant manager, I know how important it is to tap servers, but this group of ladies put a Gratity of 23 dollars on our tab that I believe was about 18% when I feel that they don't deserve because their lack of inconsistent table page service. I also heard some of the conversations around me, our table was not the only table that got false orders. I will not come back after today's visit. Also yours do not accept to tax congratulations, like it's tip.

This place is a jewel. The soups were so tasteful and authentic. The dishes are not sharp, so you're not afraid. The parts are huge that people can share the ducks. The spicy Squid temple was so good. The location has a good number of tables, so it can definitely accommodate large parties. They also have seats outside.

Also, they were so sweet to bring us a ridiculous amount of water and ice, as we (and our bikes chose to sit on their lovely shaded patio even though it was about 100 degrees outside. Thanks Daniel and Ichiban staff for giving us a fun and delicious birthday experience!
