For our first time there, it did not disappoint. I had the street brisket tacos with papas and calabasitas. My boyfriend had the street ribeye steak tacos with papas and rice. Everything was so delicious and the fact that a sopapilla comes with the meal for dessert, was perfect!! Sweet wait staff and a clean environment. View all feedback.
What Adam G doesn't like about Cocina Azul:
Service was awful. Took forever to order our waters, then took forever to order our food, took forever to get our ticket. Not busy time at all. Server was nice when she was around. Food was very mid and would not recommend this place. Better New Mexican food elsewhere. I would say the prices are good though. The one positive. View all feedback.
Great place with delicious food. Had the taco bowl with chicken. I LOVE that they give you a seperate platter with sour cream, guacamole, and cheese, so you can choose how much you put in your taco salad.Food: 5/5
I needed a chili fix and decided to give this restaurant a go. I have been to the other two outlets in town but had not been to this one. First impressions were positive. Place is two years old so the ambience was fairly serene and not too busy. We were seated fairly promptly at booth designed to accommodate a large family. We requested a different table which was more appropriate for couples. Menu offered the standard New Mexican fare. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. My wife ordered a breakfast burrito. The wait was not to long. I was disappointed with my order which included two eggs and hashbrown over a corn tortilla smothered with red chili. My food was warm and had to be reheated to my satisfaction. Very disappointed that hash brown instead of cooked papas were served. The mild red chili would probably be appreciated by non-natives but I found it too bland for my taste. My wife was equally disappointed with her breakfast burrito which was smothered with a very bland green chili sauce. We both left disappointed and added to our list of places not to return to.
The papas were the frozen kind, expected fresh potatoes. Hashbrowns were super dry. Bacon had a sweet taste? None of the food had any seasoning, very bland. Pancakes were good. Didn't enjoy my first visit so decided to give it another try. Will not go back. Sorry, I tried .Food: 3/5
If you are traveling in Albuquerque or have recently moved here, this should be on the top of your bucket list! I have tried a variety of different meals at Cocina Azul and it has been AMAZING every single time! My personal favorite is the brisket taco platter. The brisket is very tender and juicy, which is why this item is #1 on the menu! This location is not usually that busy, so you are served right away and your food comes out quickly. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. This is by far my favorite local restaurant!!
Returned with my hubby for a date last night, and was pleasantly surprised by fantastic live music in the bar area. The singer played a variety of music across the decades with a smoky, gritty quality that made me wonder why she wasn't a legend somewhere. As for the food, the chips were crisp and light, the red salsa a bit heavy on the cilantro, though the green is tasty. I enjoyed every last one of the fish tacos plus an a la carte brisket taco with their rice and calabacitas. Every bit as good as the first time. Hubs ate the creamy chicken rellenos, but was underwhelmed. I tried them and think they'd be perfect comfort food, though they could've used a warmer kick. The Azul Martini was disappointing--strong but not in a good way, too sweet, lacking balance and a punch of something to bring the flavors together better. Overall, we'll be back again to sample more from the menu. Hubs wants to try their red chile before deciding if they'll make it into our regular repertoire. As for me, I'd come back for the fish tacos a hundred more times.
