I have never written a bad review before however this restaurant was shocking. I was looking forward to this place the most after reading all of the great reviews whether we visited on a bad day I am not sure as it didn’t live up to the expectations. The food I ordered the squid Algarve style the squid hadn’t been cleaned properly and was gritty. The garlic in the sauce had been burned and gave it a bitter taste. The squid was over cooked and very chewy. Two of the party had the selection of grilled fish which was fine, although small portions compared to other restaurants nearby and two of the party had lamb chops (they said they were nice). So all in all the food was ok. The service however was shocking; we waited a long time for drinks after being seated, had to ask 4 times for my young child’s food. He did eventually get it around 20 minutes after everyone else’s. This was after the waiter rolled his eyes after us asking where it was (which I think is a reasonably question after 20 minutes) We came to pay for the bill and was told they only accepted cash as the card machine had broken at 1pm. There was 12 of us and the bill was a few hundred euros. We asked why we weren’t told this when we sat down and the manager said that he’d told the waiters to tell everyone as they sat down but this hasn’t been passed on. One of the party spent 50 minutes looking for a cash machine that worked. We asked for a discount off the bill 2 couples got 10 euros off and the 3rd couple were told they couldn’t have a discount as they ordered 20 minutes after the other 2 despite us all ordering at the same time, on the same table. The manager said that this was due to a computer glitch but couldn’t fix this?! It wasn’t worth wasting over an hour of the night just in order to pay for a distinctly average meal with poor service. If you are looking for a fish restaurant, don’t waste your money here and go to Casa da Fonte instead.
Great food, great staff, great wines, went 3 times, would have gone more but went home. Specials menu deff worth trying local dishes, slow lamb amazing.
Have been here for lunch 2 times and found the food to be of a very high standard. Highly recommended.
Fabulous restaurant. Located away from the crazy touristy area in a quaint section of Albufiera. We found it on day one of a three week stay and came back three more times. The food is great. It is a family owned and run restaurant and they take great pride in there customer service. So friendly and attentive. We fell like we have close friends here and look forward to coming back soon.
If we hadn't been staying at the marina and walked in to the old town, I think we might have missed the restaurant which would have been a real shame. We sat outside despite it being a little cool in the evening, we were glad of the glass screens to protect us from the wind (we were offered a table inside but the novelty of eating outside was too great). We must be early eaters as the restaurant was quiet when we arrived but filled up nicely whilst we were there. The waiters were very friendly, making polite jokes and offering a discount card for our next visit. We had clams and cuttlefish to start, followed by squid and swordfish. It was the best swordfish I have had in a long time, and generous portions. Very please to receive potatoes instead of chips as so many tourist spots do. There was a limited choice of desserts as I think we were not quite in full season, so some dishes had not been prepared, but Albufeira cake was available which was beautifully sticky. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.
