Meson Irene used to be one of our favourite restaurants, which we'd visit every week whilst we were in Spain. However, during our last visit, the menus (and pri... read more Meson Irene used to be one of our favourite restaurants, which we'd visit every week whilst we were in Spain. However, during our last visit, the menus (and pricing) had undergone significant changes. Previously, wine was included on all set menus, (which were amazing value for money), and there was a wide choice available. Now the prices have increased significantly, but the quality just isn't there any longer. During this visit, my starter was inedible, the main course merely acceptable. I was so disappointed, I didn't want any dessert. The waiting staff are still lovely, and very helpful. I don't know whether Maison Irene is under new ownership or new management, but something is very wrong here. We haven't been back there for almost 5 months. I am keeping my eye out on the reviews, won't return till the reviews improve.

The menu del Noche that everyone has loved for years has now been changed.It was 14/16euros for drink,salad,starter,main,postre,coffee.Now each course is priced... read more The menu del Noche that everyone has loved for years has now been changed.It was 14/16euros for drink,salad,starter,main,postre,coffee.Now each course is priced seperately and it's far from reasonable.A drink or coffee is not included anymore.We worked out that with what we usually had it would cost more than double.We certainly won't be going back. On the other hand,they do a lunchtime trade for the industrial and transport workers of 11euros for a menu del dia.There is no change. When I asked why the hike in price I was told that everything had gone up in price i.e. food and transport costs....but not at lunchtime??

The atmosph... read more When we went into the big dining room there was only one couple there and when they left just one person on their own replaced them and that was it. The atmosphere was muted at best. They have 2 menu del dias, and we ordered the lamb , the waitress returned to say no lamb so we opted for the other menu, no lamb there either! So then we ordered the knuckle of pork, yep no knuckle of pork, no smoked lamb chops and no pork ribs at this stage we asked her what we could have and it was chicken, don't have the chicken breastfeeding, that's all I'm saying. The waitress was lovely and I felt for her I'm sure it wasn't her fault she had to return time and again to say ourgent order couldn't be filled
