Unbelievable big city dining experience in a small city. Off the Square has farm to table fresh food and hand from scratch deserts. Great portions and delicious taste! Did I mention bottles of wine on Wednesday?! It won't be much better than Off the Square. Thanks to the hospitable staff. Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be back! View all feedback.
What Joseph Cobb dislikes about Off The Square:
Went here a couple of weeks ago while on vacation. My fish entree was horribly salty and overcooked to the point that it was sticking to my teeth. The sides were lukewarm and bland, no seasoning at all. The plating itself resembled a cafeteria, as I could see where the food had been plopped down, and the fish had been slid across the plate. It seems that the kitchen lacks any sort of time management and quality contr... View all feedback.

Had the butcher block special, very little actual beef and the rice was not fully cooked, disappointing for the price
Menu slightly offbeat/upbeat. Grilled chicken with pimento cheese double burger with grilled onions. Calamari as a special. Shout out to service and atmosphere. Cold water service in carafes.
What a beautiful spot. A really nice laid back atmosphere, clean and pleasant. The service was over the top good. Great recommendations made and lots of smiles. Food menu was limited but enough choices to satisfy everyone. Recommend!
Great food and good service. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Food was delicious and our table host Chris was absolutely wonderful and attentive. We ordered the bruschetta for our appetizers, Brussels Sprout Caesar salad for a little snack and for entrees We had 12oz Ribeye and Bourbon pecan chicken. We had an amazing time we will back soon. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100
Off the Square offers farm-to-table meals with hand-crafted desserts, complete with generous portions and delightful flavors. The restaurant's hospitable staff and big city dining experience in a small city make for an unforgettable visit. Despite minor issues like occasionally burnt dishes, this charming spot is a must-visit in Albemarle. Guests can enjoy fresh seafood plates, delectable burgers, and mouth-watering steaks. The thoughtful service, scenic outdoor seating, and flavorful menu make Off the Square a top choice for a laid-back, enjoyable meal with friends and family. Recommended for anyone looking for a unique dining experience in a relaxing environment.

It was the perfect day to sit outside, but the tables were too close together to be comfortable, just two other tables occupied Apart from that everything was perfect. Both the burgers and shrimps and grits were very delicious. The fries were so beautiful and crispy, they will be forever in my three life eaters!
Last night we had an event that we held in our house for 15 people. I worked directly with Billy the chef who made fantastic recommendations for the menu. The food was prepared on time and looked amazing. All the items we ordered were absolutely delicious and the whole guest was shaking. Billy later wrote in the night to check and make sure everything was okay. The service we received was excellent, the quality of the food was phenomenal, and the overall experience was so simple and pleasant I never cook for the company again. My only regret is that I didn't order a bunch of extras so we could have left for the rest of the week! I cannot recommend Off the Square very enough to both dine in and for catering. And no matter what you do, do not forget the desserts, they are absolutely to die!
We took a chance on our way home and we're glad we made it. The seafood plate I got was amazing. Fresh and the way they prepared the food was great. We both enjoyed our meal and will be back as the restaurant is only about 45 minutes from where we live.
This is a great restaurant the food is Super Fresh and well prepared I haven't been here in so.e time but finally got a chance to return. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and seemed to be doing great despite being the only server. We had a brussel sprouts appetizer which was tasty. I never thought I would say this but the portion was too large for 2 people. I had a grilled pork chop which came with potatoes and brocilini and carrots. The chop was grilled to perfection and was very tender. The seasoning on the fingerling potatoes was phenomenal. Ditto for the veggies. Only disappointment was the dessert which was a key lime pie that was described as having a meringue topping. I didnt see any meringue and the pie wasn't very good. I make a killer key lime pie so I am picky. This pie had a wierd almost grainy consistency. Perhaps it had some zest in it. Despite that I recommend Off The Square and I will be going back.

I feel so fortunate to have had two five star experiences only one week apart. We last visited Off The Square back in 20015 and I remember it was good but...
Stumbled into the best restaurant in Albemarle! everything we ordered was WONDERFUL, but a special shout out to the sweet potato bruschetta. So good!!...

I was unexpectedly in the area, and found this place what a charming spot! The atmosphere was relaxed but sophisticated, the staff friendly and attentive without being overly so. The fettuccine was fabulous, and the beef brisket was mouthwatering. The food? A M A Z I N G...this great little place that would be crazy ruined if it was situated in Charlotte proper....a hidden gem that I will purposefully drive an hour for....and have recommended to all my friends. Will be back!
Food is delicious and staff was wonderful! Place is great for a date day out! Small place probably not the best for huge parties

Just had a wonderful Saturday afternoon date with my husband at The Courthouse Tavern and Table. Food was excellent and everything was fresh, and service was impeccable. We will definitely be returning for future date nights! Hands down the best dining experience in Albemarle.
This was the best restaurant we’ve tried in years! Food was perfect and great service too! We can’t recommend highly enough!
Excellent food!!!! Love the vibe of the place. The tuna is amazing!!!!!
Passing through town and ate here due to great reviews. They def live up to the hype! I ordered the deviled eggs and salmon and all were so good! I think that was the best lemon dill butter I’ve ever had and wish I’d gotten some to go! I hope to find a reason to visit again soon. Thank you Courthouse Tavern!
My family and I can’t say enough good things about this place. Between the food, drinks and service we were over all fully impressed with everything. We will definitely be coming back.
