The Handpie Company - Albany

Wow! How did we know about The Handpie Company? We placed a large frozen order (60 handpies and picked them up before leaving the island. We also have 4 strawberries Rhubarb cakes to bite them in the car. We were all blown away from the decadent fresh taste, the tasty and delicious pastries and the perfect cook! The staff was very friendly helpful and we felt like welcome customers from the moment we came in. This place is very friendly!! I was so excited to get our order that I totally forgot to make a photo of the sweet cake! You just have to go and see/taste for yourself. Update 8/28/2022: Today we tried the All Day breakfast?? And it was AMAZING? Flaky tatsy pastries, sausage, eggs, cheese, maple baked beans.... Just so delicious? 9/3/2022 Lake Meat Pie? Move over Turkey dinner this handpie will give Christmas dinner a run for there money! Just add some potatoes, carrots and cranberry sauce and dinner served!

This is now on our must-stop place for PEI. We noticed this place when we arrived on the island and decided to stop in as we were about to leave and it was around lunch time. So happy we did! What delicious bundles of flavour! We bought a few flavours plus the potato salad and it was all so good that we ended up buying 14 frozen ones to take home. We popped them in the air fryer for about 20-25 minutes and they were just as good at home.

Visiting for the week and stopped by when we saw the sign. Who can resist pies. I went in with no idea what they had or style of pie. The staff was awesome and provided great information. I ended up buy a half dozen different kinds of savoury frozen pies. We cooked them up this evening and they turned out perfectly. The bottom didn?t get soggy, nice and crispy crust. The blue cheese and steak, beet and corn and chickpea Currie were are favs from what we got. But they were all great. Worth the visit for sure!

I?ve sampled Handpies sold direct from the bakery, and frozen. The fresh ones are best, but the frozen ones are available at my favourite gas and grocery stops, can easily be tossed into the freezer and pulled out for a lazy meal any time. The air fryer is ideal for this as I find that 325 for less than 20 minutes is perfect for reheating the pie and making the crust just crisp as I like it, top and bottom. The pastry is wonderful, flaky and savoury. When I think I?ll have scraps for the dogs, I have to apologize to them as I?ve cleaned the plate. I love the meat pies, PEI Pasty, BBQ Pulled Pork, Tourtiere, and their breakfast handpie, but tonight I enjoyed their Braised Beef Mozzarella that set a new bar for meat pies! I?ve made my own at home and can?t quite match their quality and taste, but I?m working on it! ; If you grab a pair for the you and other half when you pay for your gas, one of you is going to smile? maybe more. ;

A must stop is the PEI Handpie Company! I never tasted that, I had the All Day breakfast and it was absolutely amazing! You have a wide selection of already warmed cakes to go and frozen to bring home with you, staff is extremely helpful and it is neet to see how they are made on site. everything is fresh and they are not shy with the fillings, great place to stop for a nice warm lunch!
