Cafe Jeanne - Aix-en-Provence

Puzzling, to say the least. The Good: the staff are great and very friendly, trying to compensate for... The BAD: the food is just awful. Some examples: a pesto pasta with not a trace of basil, totally overcooked, bathed in an oily white sauce and garnished with parsley; lamb shank souris d'agneau which was off it stank; the bruschetta was a tiny, flabby piece of untoasted bread; some aperitif breadsticks ?? were inedible. Pizza was ok, as was a meat dish called bavette d'aloyau. The terrace partly overlooks a dirty construction site. Unfortunately our advice would be to AVOID.

Fabulous service, excellent food!! The ambience in the small secluded square with four restaurants was magical!! I would recommend the salads and pasta and we had a great wine recommendation! What fun we had
