I truly enjoy the service and atmosphere at the Hitching Post; it has a fantastic local vibe! I've been a regular for many years, and it just keeps improving. During my latest visit, I saw they’ve introduced a shuffleboard table and live music on Saturday nights. They're also well-known for their karaoke nights on Fridays. My servers, Sara and Camile, were wonderful and made sure I had everything I needed for a great... View all feedback.
What Lawrence S doesn't like about Hitching Post Sports:
New owners and the staff they have hired di not seem to have a clue about customer service the bar staff didn't know how to make a old fashion Food was subpar We have tried it 3 times since it changed hands and will not be coming back View all feedback.
The Hitching Post is a favorite spot for locals and also draws visitors from around the globe. It gained fame for its appearance in the 2004 film, Sideways. Despite facing some challenges over the years, the restaurant has persevered. This morning, I visited with some out-of-town guests for breakfast. Atmosphere: The restaurant is quite spacious and maintains a remarkably clean and well-kept appearance. Not a speck of dust could be found on the numerous plaques and memorabilia adorning the walls. (5 out of 5) Food: We ordered French toast, extra-large pancakes, the Three Egger, and biscuits with gravy. The food was decent, and we agreed it deserved a solid 4.5 rating. Service: Our server, Charlee, was friendly and pleasant, adding to our positive experience. Overall: We were all impressed with the restaurant's upkeep. Kudos to the owners and staff for their hard work. (5 out of 5)
Great local spot under new ownership and I appreciate the changes being made. Definitely leaning more towards a family friendly restaurant with a nightlife after dark. Karaoke on Fridays. The chili is crave worthy and I am hooked! Looking forward to what this place transforms into after years of the same thing. Safe and all ages friendly, hard working, small business owners, and delicious food awaits you!!
Had a great meal and drinks here this past weekend! Charlie was our server. She checked on us consistently through our meal. Food was excellent! Large portions at reasonable prices! Enjoyed the patty melt, tacos and of course ice cold adult beverages! They were even having a band that night. Wish we could have stayed instead of heading back down the mountain. We will return!

It's definitely a saloon/family restaurant vibe inside. It's dark despite how bright the outside might be. But the staff is super friendly. They have a wide variety of food options, too. I've posted portions of the menu to this review. I ordered a burger with mushrooms and my son had a cheeseburger. My mom had a breakfast plate. The food took a while to arrive but was very good and filling! It's definitely a good place to stop on the way out of Oakhurst for a meal!
