Very good food and service, well situated, reasonable prices! The Poc bowl was delicious, as were the mussels!

The Tavern offers a very large choice of dishes, both fish and meat. We tried only the fish this visit but there will be others. There was absolutely no fault to be found with the three different choices we made and our next table diners informed us that they had never been disappointed in the many years they have been coming here. We have to admit that we have missed out over that same period by simply not getting off our regular beat. This will now be corrected. The service is perfect and the welcome was warm despite the restaurant being packed. The cost remains very reasonable. Another “must” for Cap d’Agde.

We ate here two nights of our holiday and we were not disappointed. We may have eaten more but on the first two tries the restaurant was booked out. We almost didn 't try a third time as 'Nora Batty ' shooed us away on trying to book one evening. But we returned as we like good food and the place was obviously popular. On the third try we were squeezed in at an outside table. I ordered the filet mignon, expecting steak but it was pork! It was however delicious and melted in the mouth. My husband had steak which was cooked to perfection. We followed this with a flambé apple pancake. We booked for another night and we went for the set menu. I had mussels and steak and my husband had the goats cheese and pork cheeks. All were delicious. The waiter speaks fluent English and there is an English menu. Nora Batty it would appear does not speak English but she knows how to make herself understood when having a grump about her male colleague!

We arrived as a group of 4 adults and 2 children and saw a non-reserved table that would have been perfect for us. The waiter looked unhappy and told us to wait while he fetched the manager. The manager said there was no space for our pushchair. I said we could leave it outside (technically we could also have folded it up small and put it under our table), but he just shook his head, frowned at us and gestured for us to leave. I get it, some restaurants don't want potentially noisy kids and they can get more money out of a group of all adults, but the rude, unapologetic manager treated us like dirt.
