Cheap drinks CASH ONLY. There’s an ATM with a $2.50 charge. $4ish local IPA cans and $5.50ish Tito’s vodka tonic. There’s no menu, so you gotta go with the flow., so I guesstimated our drinks’ costs. The real question: can you handle cigarette smoke? We don’t smoke, thought we could stand it, but ultimately after a drink, we left. We tried to air out our clothes at our hotel after hanging out but everything was so st... View all feedback.
What Steve C dislikes about The Cowboy:
If you're in search of a dive bar, this might fit the bill. However, I think there are better options available in Afton or the surrounding valley. The atmosphere allows smoking indoors, if that's something you enjoy. Unfortunately, the bartender wasn't particularly friendly, and the drinks were just average. If you're a fan of draft beverages, you might find better choices elsewhere. Overall, I would recommend looki... View all feedback.
I generally appreciate a local bar atmosphere, but when we walked in, we immediately felt uncomfortable and, even worse, unwelcome. I understand that tourists can be demanding and may create challenges for the staff throughout the year, but I specifically sought a local experience because we're considering a move to Wyoming, with Afton on our list. Unfortunately, the experience was so off-putting that we quickly decided to remove the city from our considerations. We also dined at the restaurant next door, which is part of the bar, but that experience didn't improve our impression. The food was lacking, and the staff wasn't nearly as friendly or engaging as in other cities we've visited in the area. I hope this review is helpful for anyone else thinking of stopping by.
If you're looking for a dive bar, this is the spot for you—complete with unclean glasses, even without asking! The real standout, however, is the Asian restaurant attached to it. It serves its purpose as a casual hangout. The restaurant is definitely a big plus. On the downside, smoking is allowed, resulting in a lot of smoke and ashes everywhere.
When we arrived, the first bartender, Mama T, was fantastic, but unfortunately, she was finishing her shift. The next bartender, Sammy, was the worst I’ve ever encountered. All she seemed interested in was taking shots with her friends. I don’t think I’ll return as long as she’s working there, and I doubt it will be for very long. Price per person: $20–30.
All I can say is wow this place is awesome! We were staying down the street at the Marriott and the person at the front desk suggested this bar. Theresa the bartender is the best host!! Her apple pie shots are out of this world! A must do if you are in the Afton area!
Do not go there. The bartender/owner is unfriendly and doesn 't have the charm nor patience to be running a bar. We asked for Bloody Mary 's and she informed us she doesn 't make Bloody Mary 's after noon (it was 12:30 and all the makings were right in front of her) therefore, we asked for Greyhounds and she informed is she didn 't have any grapefruit. My Mother diligently had her credit card out on the bar to pay for our drinks way ahead of time...come pay time Shelley adamantly stated "we don 't take credit cards! Not a very great bar. Debra C.
