The Wine Underground, now known as Pirie Co. Social Club, has the highest prices for the worst service possible. We ended up leaving and going across the street to another establishment where the service was much better. If you don't mind paying a premium for poor service, then this is the place for you. Yum! The Weingrund has undergone a revitalization since reopening. It continues to attract business from the neighboring office blocks for lunch.
After a few visit with my colleagues I can still not decide my feelings in direction wein underground. the times I was here for lunch.
Went before a man came here, when friend gave a voucher as a gift. so the review can only apply to the "online offers" for which vouchers are paid. service was.
At my friend's recommendation, we chose the The Wine Underground for a casual light lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The decor was welcoming, with large opening windows at the front, allowing lots of fresh air inside. The staff were friendly, welcoming us with a smile and a friendly "hello" as we entered. We did not make a booking, but were able to secure a table for the two of us at the rear of the restaurant. As soon as we sat down the waiter offered us the menu and wine list, and asked us if we wanted water. As my friend was pregnant we declined the wine and had two soft drinks instead. Both drinks came in large glasses, with a little ice, and my soda lime and bitters was delicious. We were also offered still or sparkling water.I did look at the wine list, and was pleasantly surprised that almost all wines were available by the glass. The list is extensive, considering the meals available - but I guess it is called "The Wine Underground:!!!! There was a wide selection of sparkling and white wines, but it is in the red wine category that they really excel, with over 30 wines available - and all of their bottles of wine appeared to be reasonably priced. After looking at the menu I wished we had been able to have a glass or two!!!The food menu is simple but there are plenty of choices from appetizers, plates to share, burgers, club style sandwiches and larger meals such as rib eye steak, fish, chicken and pasta. All come served with chips, and salad.Seeing that my friend and I were busy catching up with each other, the waiter kept his distance and gave us plenty of time to decide on our order, whilst at the same time as making sure he would see when we were reeady to order - a skill not many waiters have mastered! He was attentive and cheerful, without being overbearing or pushy.I chose the Salt
Yum!!! The Wine Underground has undergone a revamp since it reopened.
