The Federal Restaurant and Bar

We dined here on a busy Friday evening.The menu was great - with lots of choices and the food delicious. Excellent showcasing of local produce!We loved the recommendations from the staff - and the wine and food matching and tastings as suggested by the friendly wait staff.

Went to a festival show recently and was looking for somewhere close by in the CBD to enhance the evening with a late dinner. The Federal was perfectly placed and the restaurant services a chain hotel, was more than happy to host late patrons.I was surprised for a hotel chain restaurant that it was much smaller than I expected and certainly wasn't set up for a fine dining experience. Felt a little above a cafe style.I was very happy with the food prepared for us and I could tell the staff, while not strategically co-ordinated were being attentive to our needs.

Nous y avons dîné le 6 mai 2017. Le restaurant sauve un peu l'hôtel. On y mange correctement mais on sent que le cœur et l'envie ne sont pas forcément présentes dans le personnel. Nous avons payé 69,31 $ pour une ballotine de poulet, un filet de saumon en papillote, 1 chardonnay et une bière. Globalement, tout de même, repas agréable et bon dans un endroit tranquille.

It was a wet night so we were delighted to find this pub just next to the Mercure Grosvenor. I had stonegrilled steak and my wife stonegrilled vegetables, both washed down with a decent pint of beer. Service was good, staff were helpful and friendly and the place was busy.

Food was excellent but because there was not enough staff we waited way too long fior our food. The waiter ran and ran up and down the stairs. A good restaurant ruined by insufficient staff.
