Contribute FeedbackTaste of South Indian is a hidden gem in Adelaide, offering delicious and authentic South Indian cuisine. Run by a couple who are also ayurvedic practitioners, the restaurant focuses on healthy, tasty food. Specialties include crispy vadai and flavorful chutneys. While some dishes may have a raw taste, the chefs are working to improve them. Customers appreciate the authentic flavors and quality of the food. The restaurant is small and can get busy, so booking ahead is recommended. Overall, Taste of South Indian stands out as the best place to enjoy South Indian cuisine in Adelaide.
Deliciously authentic aromen, a lot of vegan/vegetarian options, healthy food philosophy and very inexpensive! are seasoned by the mother of the owner in india before shipment to adelaide. I will recommend this place friends.
We went there as a family for dinner 6 months ago. Looks like the restaurant is temporarily closed and dont know where they have reopened. Their food was done from scratch and absolutely good quality. Does take 20 to 30 min easily but worth the wait. Coming from south India can 100 say their food taste authentic... please post or update address in Google if you guys have reopened. Thanks.
I have been trying to have food at this place for a while now, people say empty vessels make more noise, I can confidently say that it’s true here. There are many restaurants in adelaide who promote themselves as authentic South Indian food though they are not. Taste of the South India is the best place to have South Indian food. I definitely recommend it to everyone. I had Sambar Idli from this place which remembered my college days in Chennai and home made sambar Idli. I will try all other dishes on their menu for sure.
Went to Taste of South India for dinner tonight and I must say it was absolutely amazing!! This place is a hidden gem! Hands down the best authentic south indian food we have had in Adelaide served by a humble family! Lip smacking idiyappam with Chicken Kuruma, More Kozhambu, Mini Idlis and Sambar Vadai. Thoma's speciality dessert C-cube was phenomenal! We'd love to go back here...
Well this couple who own the place are aryuvedic practitioners. Which is an ancient Indian medical science for good health. They have quite tasty food and they are trying very very hard. The restaurant is small but clean and they do have some specials. The vadai both masala and medhu are very tasty and crunchy although a little too much chilli for my taste. The coconut and onion chutney is fresh and full of flavour and taste. However, I wish they would not unilaterally close the restaurant without much notice for e.g. the place is closed on every Sunday of the month. The chicken sometimes has a raw flavour which I hope they will fix soon. The Indian palate from the south cannot stand the raw taste of meat chicken, goat etc..I do hope they will add a few more varieties to their menu such as the popular Indian Tamil Appom. I also hope that their chicken curry will be different to the base flavour of the vegetable curry (or kozhambu). I think a little more effort is to go into the menu. The iddiyappom is very soft and fresh. I would like to see a different curry to accompany this medium (ie iddiyappom). You have to book a table if you intend to eat at the restaurant. The prices are a little expensive and is now the norm at any eating place in and around Adelaide. I truly appreciate the owner's choice NOT to add sugar and cream to their foods which is alien in Indian Tamil cooking. Quite original and much healthier than some Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese cooking that has a lot of sugar and MSG in it. Check your blood sugar levels after eating such cuisine.Good luck!
