It was a week night in winter and while most of the office workers in Adelaide were fleeing the city as though vampires were about to come out, those in the know were cramming into Sushi Train. Sushi Train looks ordinary from the outside and can be hard to find, but it is well worth searching out for great sushi. Highlights for us were the soft-shell crab, chicken karaage, salmon sashimi, and the spicy selection. The... View all feedback.
What Alfonzo Schimmel doesn't like about Sushi Train:
While the food is good enough for sushi available in Australia, a few of the staff take their greetings and shouting of orders and seat availability far too seriously, literally screaming in customers' ears (Pong). This makes for a very, very unpleasant and off putting dining experience which could not be further from how it unfolds in Japan. The non-Japanese staff would also greatly benefit from some language traini... View all feedback.
The sushi here is always great, I find myself coming back quite frequently. The food is cheap and good quality. The staff are really friendly and helpful.
I sometimes pop in to this place on my lunch break or for dinner and have been pretty satisfied with their overall selection of sushi and how tasty it is. I think it can be pretty pricey for two people eating, and it's consistently busy especially during peak lunch hours so seating is sometimes not available. And if you were to visit late lunch so after 3pm they have a much more limited selection on the train and it's not nearly as fresh.
I didnt expect I would get a decent sushi when I passed this restaurant. Decided to drop by and sushi was freshly made. Overall is a great food I have in this restaurant
I honestly did not expect Adelaide to have decent sushi, so I was delighted to have a fantastic meal here the other night. I enjoyed every plate I tried, my favourite being the seared salmon roll with scallop on top. It was melt-in-the-mouth delicious! You can tell they use fresh ingredients here. The only slight negative comment I have is that they douse a lot of their sushi in mayo. Otherwise I have nothing bad to say about the sushi here. The prices are more than reasonable, too. Definitely going to be back!
If this restaurant is located in Japan it would be Budget sushi quality But it"s In Adelaide. It"s upper averaged. A bit overpriced. Friendly staffs. Owner is Japanese. But staffs are Korean and Chinese in Japanese restaurant. If you want to order sushi plate,s just ask to chief directly. Its much fresher. I don't recommend to have nigiris on the sushi train.
