Arigatou gozaimasu Hotaru. Once again very enjoyable night goyza was very tasty as well as the karaage chicken. And I must say sukiyaki oishi katta desu. Thank you once again for a very enjoyable meal View all feedback.
What Darrel Brakus doesn't like about Hotaru Japanese Restaurant:
The reason I gave such a low rate was because of the poor value for money of the Groupon deal. $35 for 2 people 10 courses degustation was in fact 2 lunch bentos. I felt cheated by the word degustation. The food was just average too. If the purpose of the Groupon was to gain profit then it's successful. But it's to promote the business via introducing good food at a discounted price then it's a total failure. View all feedback.
We dined here one Saturday night after a footy game and was very impressed. From the outside it doesn’t look very appealing but the minute you walk inside you are transformed into another place. Decor was great. Staff extremely helpful and the food was sensational....Salmon sashimi, fried tofu tempura were amongst our choices washed down by several sakes. Price was very reasonable at $100 for two this is now my favourite Japanese restaurant.
Go there regularly! Went again last week! With a business colleague who's never been there before; he loved it! Food, brilliant, especially the Sushi/Sashimi boats! Service, very good! Great value for money! Try the rice beer! (Yes, beer!
We went on a cold night so we decided to order more hot food. We had Grilled Sliced Pork with Ginger and Rolled Sliced Beef with Mushroom. Both tasted good. But how can we skip sashimi in a Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, there was a piece...of bone in the salmon. Otherwise, it was a good dinner. The price was reasonable too.
If you like Japanese food, especially as a vegan,Hotaru on Gouger street is nothing short of amazing. It is a family business that REALLY go the extra mile with service and outstanding food. They are masters at accompaniment dressings, each dish had it's own which...worked brilliantly with each dish it was brought with. Extremely obliging, know there product inside and out as to what is already vegan and what can be made vegan. The service is very friendly, informative and you are made to feel like your presence in their establishment is truly appreciated from the second you walk in. Could not recommend this establishment highly enough. We had Advocado Sushi, Vegetable Goyoza, Tempura Vegetables and Vegetable Yaki Udon noodle, all of which were extremely tasty. Not that we had room for dessert, but without even knowing if we would order dessert or not, the owners had talked whilst we were eating and worked out what desserts could be made vegan if needed. That to me is true service without expectation and a business truly worth supporting. Value is exceptional also, all of this with a jug of Iced Tea for only $63-50!
Dined here on a recent trip to Adelaide and was pleasantly surprise. It was quite busy for a Sunday but our food came out in a timely manner. It was fresh and very tasty. The restaurant is not overly decorated but seemed clean and the...staff were very friendly. One of our group was a local and has now found his new favourite Japanese restaurant.
