What User doesn't like about Bava Chinese Restaurant:
We have been there before too. Food was decent but waiting staffs are awful and don't deal with customers politely. And they just put food on table like they are throwing. Whatever you do, do not order coca cola in jug. Its all tasteless. I would not go there again. View all feedback.
While not as upscale as some of the other restaurants in the area, this spot offers intriguing and affordably priced dishes. The staff is friendly and efficient.
Simply Dreadful,This has to be one of the worst places to eat in Adelaide.A chinese restaurant where they cannot cook rice--the rice was a gluggy"blob'which could not be eaten. The main dish bore no resemblance to the dish on the menu and again was inedible.Given the number of eating places in Gouger Street and environs this 'restaurant will not survive.Top the whole disaster with the complete lack of service and you understand the Title for this review.
We went here purely out of a flick of a coin as we were new to Adelaide and was bombed away by the choices of Chinese/Asian restaurants available on Gouger street. First day was for lunch and the food wasnt bad. We went back two days later, ordered the same dish and to our surprise it was cooked in a slight different way. Still taste ok, but the contents had changed and a bit more oil added to it. I also tried my luck with sweet and sour pork (I usually try this dish on every new chinese restaurant I go to) and I would say it is certainly not one that I would recommend. Nonetheless, it really depends on your luck if you are to visit this place. The waitress we had for both our visits were friendly and accommodating (we have two noisy boys with us).
We haven just had lunch at this restaurant. We were looking for one we had never been to. It is just next door to one we go to frequently. We ordered pork ribs in plum sauce but out came duck in a very dark sause. Reordered pork ribs, out came pork balls in a not nice plum sauce. The salt and pepper seasonal veg was nice, different and I would like to try that dish at home. We left over half of the 3 dishes. It was not anything I would want to take home and have next day. It cost $52 for that food. I dont like spending that much on lunch at any time. Dont care about that and more for a nice dinner if the food and ambience is nice.Would never go back to give it another try unfortunately. Perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes but I thought Chinese food could not really be mucked up. We have never left some much food on the plates.
Walking along Gouger Street, my partner spotted the picture of a favourite dish in the window at Bava, so in we went. The dish in question was salt & pepper squid. It was delicious. As an entree, we chose chicken with ginger & shallot. It was a great choice, the ginger and shallot sauce was flavoursome and refreshing. Service was slow, and the waitress seemed a little confused, but we got there in the end. All in all at delightful experience.
