A lovely spot for a mid-week dinner. It was a cold night but the heaters in the made the area comfortable, unfortunately they were turned off about 8pm and it started to get very cold. The food was delicious, the risotto was particularly good. Staff are very friendly. View all feedback.
What Cristina P doesn't like about Antica Pizzeria e Cucina:
As a caveat, the restaurant let us have a table for two without a prior reservation. The pizza was good quality but the ragu was not generous with minimal sauce and flavour. We spent about $80 overall and stayed about 40 minutes total. While waiting for someone to bring the machine or explain how to pay the bill left on the table, a staff member asked us to hurry up as the table was booked. Poor service and not a ter... Staff were okay.... I mean I walked in with a booking, they were delayed which was fine but to have the waitress look at my partner up and down before seating us at the bar (she was wearing very normal clothes and couldn't figure out why) was uncalled for. We've had takeaway here before and it was cooked perfectly! But dining in my partners pizza turned up very burnt. It was next to impossible to get a staff members attention and he claimed it was due to the pizza oven, but my pizza was cooked perfectly and unsure how they could be so different. Thankfully he was sort of happy to make a new pizza which came out perfect. So I think it might just have been a glitch. The worst part was when we were going to order dessert the waiter had gone out for a cigarette break (came back smelling like smoke - big off put) and after 20minutes of being ignored by all other staff we asked one member of staff for the bill, she said that we had to wait for our waiter, but after 10 more minutes, she dropped it off. Our waiter returned at this point, but seemed uninterested in us so just paid at bar. We understand it's busy and there's big tables they need to see to, but please don't forget the little guys! Food is delicious, but takeaway only!
Pleasantly surprised after reading mixed reviews. Food was great, service was good and atmosphere was warm and inviting. The waitress was in our face a little bit too much and cleared plates and everything else a little too much. Drinks weren't offered enough, but this was only a minor irritant. Gnocchi was amazing.
This is a classy Italian not far from Central Market. We had fresh, lightly breaded calamari and artisanal pizza's washed down with an excellent local Nebbiolo. Charming staff and a chilled vibe. Highly recommended!
My daughter and I dined here for the first time. Our first impression was how lovely and friendly the waitress was. The seating arrangement was spacious and comfortable. There was a gentle yet subtly lively atmosphere which was pleasant. We shared a starter of fried mozzarella, which was mozzarella in bread with a tomato salsa. This was tasty and filling, although slightly on the oily side. When shared the vegetariana pizza on the new multi grain dough the waitress had told us about. The pizza topping was delicious lots of olive, capsicum, eggplant and mushroom, however, for me the base spoilt it, a bit like eating soggy multi grain bread. My daughter really enjoyed the base, so I think it really is down to personal choice. We were going to order desert but we're both really very full with just the starter and main. The pizza was $23 and the starter $11.All in all a good evening meal
