Ascension offers a mixed experience that draws coffee lovers for its inviting atmosphere and diverse menu. Though some patrons find the coffee lacking in flavor and the staff's service inconsistent, others praise the delicious pastries and quality brews. While drinks like the lavender latte can disappoint, favorites such as the cold brew and breakfast sandwiches shine through. The ambiance provides a welcoming space for studying or relaxing, complemented by a commendable rewards program for loyal customers. Despite challenges like parking and occasional service hiccups, many deem Ascension a worthy stop on the DFW coffee scene.
Coffe is ok. Its not the best in DFW. The latte tastes ok. The cortado flight was ok as well. Not a fan of the flavors. It came with a matcha type coffee, a sugary one which was like a xmas cookie flavor (it was not good) a peppermint flavor (which was ok). it came with sparkling water. Overall, its a nice place to sit have coffee. But the taste of the coffee could be better. Not a huge fan of the coffee they use I guess. But prices are reasonable. Its also hard to find parking here, it stays relatively busy even if you go really early.
I thought the customer service was lacking. There was no greeting or thank you from the cashier. He simply took my order and then just left the register, so I had to reach over and get my receipt myself. When I went to grab my latte, the girl handing it to me and the cashier both simply stared at me without saying anything. I was about to say something at this point but decided not to bc it wouldn't be worth it. I want to understand that they are young adults who are probably just part-timers but still...it's a job in the service industry.... I later discovered that they got my sandwich order wrong. I tried to settle with the bacon sandwich but it really tasted no good. It's pricey for a sandwich so I went back to request a refund. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because at least that cashier granted my refund request, gave me credit for a free coffee, and apologized. That's something.
Overall a disappointing visit despite great reviews. Staff looked absolutely miserable and cashier terribly bothered to be taking our order. We specifically requested “for here” (twice) as we always prefer hot coffee in a mug to the cardboard cup. Our pastries that we requested warmed were still ice cold on the inside. They were served on plates, but the coffee in to-go cups (despite those around us drinking from mugs). My lavender latte had no taste or flavor whatsoever. An unfortunate $20 wasted.
I started a new job a few months ago and Ascension Coffee is just a block away. Saw that it was National Coffee Day and asked a coworker if she would like to walk with me next door during break to get a coffee. I got a Shroom Latte. Took a looong time forthem to make it. When I got it an took a sip it was SPICY! I mean, the description did say spices, so I thought maybe just thefirst sip was abrasive and it would tone down. Kept exclaiming how spicy it was to my coworker when walking back to work. Whenback to work, I just couldn't drink any more of it. I poured out the coffee and in the bottom was at least a TABLESPOON of purespices. As if the lid to the shaker they used for the spices fell off and I got WAY more than I was supposed to. Had to throwit away and my mouth was on fire. I went to the Ascension website and wrote to Customer service explaining my experience, sending the pic and stating that I felt they at least owed me a coffee. Never have heard back from them and that was over amonth ago. I have been to the Ascension in Coppell twice and have had a bad experience both times (with the food and service) Iwill never go to Ascension again and would NOT recommend.
This is my family?s favorite breakfast place. The coffee is heavenly. We always enjoy trying their unique pour over coffee. Their bagels are delicious; the best we?ve ever had. I love that we can buy coffee beans there too. I would recommend this placeto anyone looking for a quality meal.
