I absolutely adore this place! It's definitely worth the walk, even in the heat. The service is great and they offer delicious coffee, wine, pastries - you name it. Plus, the atmosphere is super charming! I highly recommend checking it out. View all feedback.
What Уайыс Иса doesn't like about Isobel's Chip Stand:
The staff is really friendly but the food is not the best...there is nothing that makes them stand out from any other chipstand around.I was kinda dissapointed that they serve shredded cheese rather than curds for poutine but hey if your hungry...it's place to stop! View all feedback.
Isobel's has many food items and they are prepared by well-trained staff and the food is cooked to an amazing standard. It is kept very clean and the picnic tables offer a nice break.
Friendly Servers are good at what they do. Our orders were ready quickly ! The Fresh cut onions are WONDERFUL !
Highway 41 stretches about 200 kms through Eastern Ontario, from Napanee to Pembroke, lots of forest broken up by the occasional lake or village, and here and there a hardscrabble farm. There is not much to see, and places to eat are few and far between. Travelling on the Monday of Thanksgiving weekend I knew many places would be closed, and planned to stop for lunch at The Spud House in Kaladar. So apparently did every cottager returning from the last long weekend before winter sets in. The parking lot was full, and numerous cars, cars with boat and quad trailers, and even some huge RVs, were parked on the highway in at least two directions. Understandably the lineup for orders was very long. So I passed by and took my chances further north. The first place I checked was closed, and then I saw Isobel's as I was leaving Northbrook, beside the Petrocan station. Normally I would have given it a miss. It's not as upscale as The Spud House, looking a little worn and run-down. But the service and the food were a pleasant surprise. As far as chip stands go, The Spud House has a great reputation for it's 'more than chips' menu, but I would put Isobel's in the same category. The Italian sausage on a bun was excellent, with onions and mushrooms added on, and the sweet potato fries were hands down the best I have had anywhere. There's about six picnic tables, most with umbrellas, and washrooms in the Petrocan. If you're looking for a quick lunch give this place a try - it's much better than it looks!
Whenever I visit this restaurant, the small cuts of meat are always overcooked. However, my son really enjoys the restaurant's branding. Our preferred choice in the area is Spud Box.
Quick and Friendly Service. Great choices. Lovely and Fresh Onion garnish ! "You gotta eat here" ....
