We had homemade cake and hot chocolate next to the stove and enjoyed the view before a walk around the ancient oak woodland. Though they weren't open for evening meals the lady there was kind enough to make us up some delicious venison casserole with veg and tatties to take home for our dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed with a bottle of beer from the chiller cabinet. The cleanliness was far below acceptable standard... read more While I understand this is an accommodation, not a hotel, there were several concerning issues during my stay. The cleanliness was far below acceptable standards—the room wasn’t just dirty, it was filthy, with trash left behind from previous guests. Additionally, there was no lock on the room door because a previous guest had taken it, leaving us to use a knife to get back in. The toilet was dirty, and contrary to what is advertised, there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms; it’s only available in the dining area, which felt misleading. The only positive aspect was the availability of a laundry machine. However, it seems they are either severely understaffed or possibly have no staff on-site. Be sure to bring your own towel, as the one provided was extremely dirty. Overall, I would not recommend staying here—it’s simply not worth it.
