We had a good day. Very family friendly! Landscaping was pretty. There was an employee talking about the animals with the kangaroos giraffes. At this zoo you walk on paths that feel like trails (paved for the vast majority of the areas). It 's not just one big open area. There are a couple good food places, a coffee shop, and a few snack stands and ice cream stands. Chicken fingers, fries, hot dog, and peanut butter... View all feedback.
What Amber Toomer doesn't like about Fort Wayne Children's Zoo:
This is a much larger zoo than I anticipated. Lots to see and you will definitely get your steps in. The pathways are extremely narrow throughout the entire facility. Sounds like a small thing, but when it is packed with hundreds of strollers and big families, it gets very cumbersome quickly. The biggest challenge for our visit, believe it or not, was that the entire zoo is saturated with bees. They're not just near... View all feedback.
We made our way to the zoo this weekend for the first time in a very long time. Our kids are mostly all grown now with just one to go. The three of us had a grand time checking out the improvements to the zoo and enjoying the areas that make this zoo great. If you're not been to the Fort Wayne children's zoo, you need to make it a priority to get there.
Great place for kids! The layout is great compared to others. Food prices are decent and good options. Tons of shady spots all around the park to sit and relax in. Nice little water/stream feature for the kids to cool down in, also in the shade. Carousel only 3$ per rider, and if you're standing (not sitting) with your kid you are free. There's also a log ride and train also 3$ per rider and opening soon there is going to be a huge rope course. Lots of photo opportunities and animals to pet!The only thing I would change/add is the bee population is wild out there (early September when I visited) couldn't eat/sit without being flown at but it didn't effect our visit. And I wish there was an actual playground.
When I travel and people ask me where I 'm from, and they find out it 's Fort Wayne, IN, invariably they ask What 's a must-see in your hometown? ALWAYS one of my answers is the Fort Wayne Children 's Zoo. As someone who 's lived here pretty much all my life, I have been coming here since I was a kid and it gets better every time. Family friendly, and something for people of all ages and animals literally from around the world. Come. Enjoy. You can go to bigger zoos in bigger cities, (and I have) but this one is special. You won 't be disappointed.
Went on a rainy Saturday morning to find no crowd and everything open! It's changed a lot over the years and would be hard to recognize if you haven't been in the last 10 years or so. It's worth checking back out! The goats, chickens, and giraffes are $1 each to feed, and the rides are $3 each per person all done digitally on an iPad in the zoo, card only no cash that we saw.
Took the fam out to check this zoo out… totally worth it.It’s very easy to navigate, it’s clean, and there are spaces all over for sensory kids.We rode the log ride, the train, and the sky rail and those were pretty cool too.Everything was super kid friendly and brightly colored. Well landscaped and lots of shade. It does get busy very quickly on the weekends so show up early! We will be back likely yearly!
